Title basically explains it all. Followed the steps to create the RAID 1 array which some part/prgms of the computer recognizes. I read up about how you have to "initialize" the array for it to be seen. Is there any way around it? I have a 3tb RAID 1 and it is taking FORVER to initialize. any insights would be appreciated. thanks!
UPDATE 1: I think I was able to set up the RAID 1 sucessfully as disk mgmt only shows 1 drive. However, now I have a 2tb partition coupled with an UNALLOCATED 750gb partition that I cannot enable. IS there a way to combine it into one big voume or at the very least enable it for use? I tried converting to GPT already but not helping =/
You have to initialize the array. It takes time. You can do it via a GUI interface or you can do it from the RAID BIOS. Once initialized, Windows will recognize it - and if it's larger than 2TB you need to use GPT so Windows can see the entire drive as one partition.

ok so i managed to convert my disk to GPT but how would I know my RAID is working? The BIOS recognizes my array, Intel RST software tells me "one of my disks are protected from a drive failure", BUT windows disk mgmt still reads NO for fault tolerance. And my computer is only showing one drive. Is it safe to assume my RAID 1 is set up and good to go? I don't want to fill up half my 3tb driev and realize it isnt. Thx in advance!
Have you installed the RST software in Windows?
If so, open the Intel RST Control panel. It will show the status of the array.
Also during boot, the array status is given.

What RAID controller do you have? What RAID management software are you using? The RAID management software will give you all the information you need about your RAID controller, array, drives, etc.
