Solved RAM issue?

Hi all, I encountered today a weird situation. As usual I left my PC on and when I returned there was no screen image and the mobo (P8Z77V-Deluxe) was showing error code 55 (no memory installed) with the red light turned on continuously. So I pressed the MemReset mobo button but that did not help. I powered off the PC, made sure the ram modules were not loose and powered on again, and the system was able to at least show the BIOS screen with the message "overclocking conflict" (however I never overclocked, only applied default OC). I pressed F2, entered BIOS and reset to default values and now everything is fine.
Is this a sign of a failing RAM? Or is this normal? My system has been running stable for over a year in almost 24/7 operation. Thanks.

Antares I have the ame board (not de lucxe) and I had a few problems at first but reseating hwlped and maybe it would be worth trying some spare RAM in the machine. Or perhaps remove all and leave one stick in.

It's one of those things like an intermittent odd noise in a car. It's not generally cost-effective to start replacing parts in hopes of stopping the intermittent noise. Wait for further developments unless you are doing something deadly serious like NASA. Keep your stuff backed up.

You can use memtest on the RAM if that might ease your anxiety. If it passes the test, that would probably only cause you to further furrow your brow.

Docs would call it idiopathic and just make note of it.

But it may never happen again.

If that goes against your grain, start replacing stuff.

It sounds like your BIOS lost it's settings. You might check the condition (voltage) of the 3v coin battery on the motherboard.

I like ignatzatsonic's recommendation. One time is a glitch, two times is a problem.

Was it definitely 'Overclocking conflict' and not 'Overclocking failed'? I'm not questioning your observation skills or memory either mate, it just sounds very similar to a drawn out thread I was involved in elsewhere recently. It's here if you want to take a look, see if it has any relevance?

Thanks everyone for your valuable comments. So far my system is still running stable after the reported incident.
- I've been tilting my PC case these days to swap SSD's as I'm in the process of migrating to Windows 8.1 (I have lots of custom settings/programs etc and I'm taking my time). This could've loosened one of the RAM modules, but I can hardly believe this to be the case as the sticks are sitting really tight in the sockets.
- Sorry, the message after the first successful boot was "overclocking failed". I must mention I also pressed a "Reset" button on the mobo (aside from the Memreset button). I don't think that the mobo battery is weak.
- I'm using XMP in the BIOS, it sets the RAM to 1866MHz as it should, this configuration is stable and I've been using it since end of 2012 almost on a 24/7 basis.
-I think I will do nothing, and if the issue shows up again in the short term I will investigate further.

P.D.: What happened to RAM prices? Crazy! I bought my module back in 2012 for around $140 and now it's over $300??

UPDATE: Experienced an issue with a backup application most probably due to memory errors. Decided to run memtest and one of the sticks out of 4 was faulty. Will RMA. In the meantime using 2 sticks and no more issues.

Thanks, only issue is that now I look like the horse with only two legs instead of four
