i have 8 GB of memory. my system shows it's only using 5 gigs
wht can i do?

are you sure of that?? i saw your system specs you using 32Bit, 32Bit just can read 4Gb of RAM.
make sure of that.

Exactly.

Since a 32-bit OS is limited to 4gig of RAM, the other 4gig is just sitting there doing nothing. If you want to run 8gig of RAM get a 64-bit OS, otherwise you're just waisting money on RAM :eek:

And to get an understanding of what me and Wishmaster are talking about have a look at this article by Corsair memory - Gaming Performance Analysis – 4GB vs 2GB. (PDF file) Though it talks about gaming with 4gig of RAM it does a great job of showing the limitation of a 32-bit OS with regards to memory.

If you have a retail Windows7, you should have a 64bit installation disk. I suggest you make a clean install rather than an upgrade. Make sure you first backup your data or move it to a seperate data partition.
