Hi there!
I've built my new rig two weeks go... but I haven't tested it with my favourite videogames yet, since it's BSODS are a constant problem...
They appear in any moment... using windows and using games...
Using windows, the BSODS may appear a few seconds after logging in, or after 12 hours....
But when i get into a game, it wont last 5 minutes... and that if i'm lucky... i dont think it's a overheat problem, since i've monitoring the temperatures and they dont seem to go to unstable values... and also, here in argentina, it's freezing a lot :P
I'm running out of hope... I've reinstallet windows twice... and now i'm thinking of trying with windows XP... but it would be a shame, since my Videocard supports DX11...
Here is a list of what i've saw in the minidumps and in the BSODS... but dont trust this, since i've started using minidumps 3 days ago :P

Code:
BSODs:

Also, i've ran memtest, and it shows only 1 error per pass, in the test #8...

My system configuration (as seen on my profile) is:
Code:

If memtest shows any errors at all there is no way your system will run stable. You might try testing one stick at a time to find the bad one, or make sure your bios memory settings are correct for your memory. OCZ memory tends to require very specific memory settings in order to run stable. You might try the OCZ forums for this info.

These were all caused by different things. when there is that many causes one has to thnk hardware. use these to find out what that means and what to try.

To add to Ken's post, here are some instructions for hardware tests.

For RAM:
Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 passes.

For CPU:
Try this free stress test: Free Software - GIMPS
Prime95 Setup:
- extract the contents of the zip file to a location of your choice
- double click on the executable file
- select "Just stress testing"
- select the "Blend" test. If you've already run MemTest overnight you may want to run the "Small FFTs" test instead.
- "Number of torture test threads to run" should equal the number of CPU's times 2 (if you're using hyperthreading).
The easiest way to figure this out is to go to Task Manager...Performance tab - and see the number of boxes under CPU Usage History
Then run the test for 6 to 24 hours - or until you get errors (whichever comes first).
The Test selection box and the stress.txt file describes what components that the program stresses.

For hard drive: HD Diagnostic

That with Prime95...
the stress test stopped because of... well.. a BSOD :P
but before it stopped, it showed those errors on cores 1, 2 and 4...

Now i'm going to burn and run the HDD Test...

BUMP
I just ran the HDD test with the tool for my correspondient disk, and everything went fine...
Proof:
discosano.jpg

I could not use the booteable CD... when i loaded it, it says that it was "unable to locate the license agreement file blablabla.txt", and it was there... so i used the in-windows tool... and booted in SafeMode to run it...
Later, i'll test again the CPU with Prime95 in safemode, but for now i'll test the memory with memtest 4.10... which works ok as booteable cd...
Cya tomorrow! i hope at least the memory go ok =/

I have to suspect CPU. I will contact a few people who can back me up before I recommend an expensive purchase such as that.

Are you overclocking at all? I so, restore it immediately.

If memtest is reporting errors, then you should replace the faulty ram... test one stick at a time until you find the bad one... also this could possibly be a faulty slot, so test them in different slots just to be sure...

That's the test i've been running today with prime95... everything works OK in the core 3... but not on the other ones as you can see in the report...

I'm going to move my stick to other slot... then check with memtest again...
PS: i only have 1 stick, so i can't take it out :P

I've moved the stick to other slot, but it stills the same, with errors on test 8...
Code:
Tst | Pass | failing address | good | bad | err.bits | count-chan
8 | 2 | 0004f6180c8 - 1270.0MB| 5e84b4e | 5ec4bb4e | 00400000 | 1

That's an example of one of the errors... it seems to change always on the third digit...
Take conclussions from that u.u

The stick could be bad. Have you tried a known good stick in all slots?

I'm going to do that as soon as i'm able to contact my friend to ask him for his memorys :P
but for the moment i only have my single stick...
I would like to know if i should take the CPU and the Memory to the Warranty / RMA... assuming of course, that the memory also haves a problem...
PS: i've also tested the graphics card with FurMark, and it all went ok... no stability or problem of any kind during the test...

Thanks all... seriously guys, thanks.

UPDATE:
no, i haven't forgot about this help you gave...
yesterday i got the answer from RMA. it was the memory failing.. the CPU was ok.
so if you ever have this problem again, look out for that.
Thank you all!
