Random BSOD 64 bit Ultimate on a New Machine

Hi guys,

I've had this computer for about two months, it was bought built without an OS and i've got a technet subscription so i've put Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on it. It runs fine most of the time but now and then it'll stop with a BSOD, usually the message is MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION.

I've attached the minidump logs here for you.

The system is based on an Intel i7 920 with 6GB of ram, and a GeForce 9600 GSO graphics card.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know!

There are a wide variety of different errors in the files that you attached.
In most cases this will point to a hardware issue - so I suggest that you start with these tests:

H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these hardware diagnostics:
Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link)
HD Diagnostic (read the details at the link)

Also, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: Malware (read the details at the link)

Then visit this website to check your hardware and programs more thoroughly: Windows 7 Compatibility Center home

I ran the last 3 memory dump files (the one's from 2010) and it seems to me to be a compatibility issue, most likely with a System Service (from the contents of the Stack Text).

So, Please update or remove these older drivers that were loaded at the time of the crash. Don't use Windows Update or the Update drivers function of Device Manager. Please use the following instructions to locate the most current drivers:

How To Find Updated Drivers:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

Thanks for a very concise reply John, i'll spend some time this evening doing the driver updates and compatibilty checks then see how i get on.

Really appreciate the help here, software installations i'm fine with, fault finding not quite so!
