Solved Random BSOD after installing Netgear A6210 Wifi Adapter

Hi,

My desktop encountered some random BSODs after installing the Wifi adapter.

Also, my desktop had random freezes too and I'm not sure if the freezes and BSODs are related.

I've attached the zipped file for the BSODs.

Please follow this tutorial and download the tool. The tool will give you detailed information about your system specs, please fill in your system specs more completely including PSU, cooling and other used stuff. Please note that the PSU, cooling and other used stuff are not mentioned in the tool.

I filled up the system specs as mentioned. Hope it will help in troubleshooting the problem.

I tried to download and install updates but couldn't do it as my computer kept freezing or turning into black screen when it was running windows update.

Do the freezes occur when you only download updates or also with installation?

Please run following tests on your hard drives/partitions

Diagnostics Test

 HDD TEST

Run SeaTools to check the integrity of your HDD. SeaTools for DOS and Windows - How to Use - Windows 7 Help Forums
Run following tests

1. Short Drive Self Test
2. Short generic
3. Long generic

If the short generic fails, no need for the long generic.

   Note

Do not run SeaTools on an SSD as the results will be invalid.

Make a photo of the result and post it.

Run chkdsk
Disk Check - Windows 7 Help Forums

Run HDTune to

• scan for errors, no quick scan but full scan
• check the health,
• benchmark.

It may take some time, but please take the time you need to perform it properly.
When above is done please make screenshots of the following

• the error scan,
• the health,
• the benchmark incl. following
  • transfer rate,
  • access time,
  • burst rate,
  • cpu usage.

Sorry for the late reply, I've been trying to do the tests for the past few days.

However, the computer froze when I was doing error scan for my 300GB hard disk using HD Tunes and it froze again when I was doing Long Generic Tests for both 300GB and 500GB hard disks using SEA Tools.

I've attached the images for the tests I managed to complete.

Your Samsung drive may be failing, did you run chkdsk on it?

I tried running chkdsk on it but the computer froze before it could be completed. :/

Did you try running it offline or online? Online is in Windows, offline is when Windows hasn't loaded.

Hmmm, I'm not sure because the chkdsk starts after the "starting windows" screen. And my chkdsk screen is the image that I found online. So is that online or offline?

Sorry for not replying the past week. Was busy with preparing for overseas trip.

When I did the scanning the drive for errors, the desktop did not freeze.

However it froze when I tried to scan and attempt recovery of bad sector, and also scan and automatically attempt to fix errors.

Did you do that offline or online?

With 'froze' you mean it looked like nothing happened?

When scanning the drive for errors only and when scanning and attempt recovery of bad sectors, they were done online.

The scan and automatically attempt to fix errors was done offline.

By 'froze' I mean the cursor was not moving, and my keyboard could not work. Even the lights for switching num lock and caps could not be changed no matter many times I pressed the keys.

Freezes are another indication of a failing hard drive in this case, the best thing to do is backup & replacement.

So I should just replace the Samsung 300GB hard disk for this case then?
