Random BSOD after many years of flawless laptop operation

My Toshiba L675 laptop has served me well for years with its native Win7, doing everything asked of it. I am in love with Win7! Unfortunately, over the past 5 months or so it has begun to randomly lock up with BSOD(actually a dark screen with no messaging). It won't respond to the keyboard or mouse so I am forced to do a hard reset to regain function. It might run for days or it might lock up after a few minutes.

I have tested the memory and the HD(a 1 TB HD that I installed a few years ago) and they passed with no errors. I regularly vacuum and blow out the cooling ports with compressed air and it doesn't seem to be overheating. Right now I am running the computer in safe mode as I start this thread. My intention is to see how long it will run without locking up. So far I'm a few hours into it with no problem.

I have been googling the problem with no success, so I am finally swallowing my pride and asking for help. This thing has me licked! I'm afraid that these hard resets are going to affect my HD one of these times and I have a lot of data I don't want to lose. Please help.

I'm NOT a BSOD TEAM member.
Before they get to your post I would recommend backing up all your important data to a external drive. Of course you should of already been making backups.

Then wait for help. They are very busy.

Thanks for the reply! I looked up that update and I believe that it is a misprint. Here are the available bios for my computer. The ones you recommended (highlighted in icky green-blue) have a version # of 1.10 and 1.20. Further down the list is another (highlighted in icky pink...) that has a 2011-10-05 date, but version # 1.70. The date must be misprinted on the green-blue version, as I doubt that Toshiba would start counting down with their version numbers. What do you think?

My laptop locked up again last night to the dark screen even though it was in safe mode. It lasted approximately 1-1/2 days this time.

I don't understand. I have version 1.70 on my computer now that has been working for years; why would I want to drop back to an earlier version?

With all due respect, that makes no sense to me. Why would I want an earlier version with a mistaken label. Obviously, whoever typed in the database made an error. icnic:

I don't know where it is wrong and why they do this, but you need the update with the most recent date
You check the version, but as I said in this case you should only compare the dates.

I wasn't aware of that rule; thanks for pointing it out to me. I deleted that bump as best as I could.

I will just have to wait patiently for someone to analyze my problem.

Yesterday while I was waiting, I suffered a PCKeeper malicious popup attack. I ran Junkware Removal Tool, Bitdefender Adware Removal Tool,and Adware Cleaner. I reset browser settings on Internet Explorer and Google Chrome and I also gave my cooling system another compressed air cleanout which did move a little bit of dust. It's only been a few hours but so far no crashes. Fingers crossed, but not too hopeful....

I will attempt to do some stress testing of the CPU and the video card while I am waiting. I believe in helping myself whenever possible. I attached the file of my latest crash while in safe mode. It might be helpful.
