Random BSOD and system crashes

This is a new build that is about a month old and i am getting random crashes and BSOD.

I cant say that there is anything in particular that i am doing when it happens it is very random.


system specs:
System Manufacturer/Model Number: Home built
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
CPU: i7-2600K
Motherboard: Asus Maximus IV Gene-z
Memory: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) CMZ8GX3M2A1600C8
Graphics Card: EVGA GTX580SC
Hard Drives 120F Corsair SSD (OS)
Sound Card: onboard


Any help would be much appreciated.

1- Your Symantec

I would remove and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials

How To Find Drivers:

- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

I searched for RTCore64.sys and all that comes up is an overclocking utilitly for MSI afterburner. I do have nor ever owner anything manufactured by MSI so I am at a loss on how that got on there or how to get rid of it as that is not an installed application.

As far as Norton i have never had a problem for the last 4 years on any PC. I also have 3 other PC in the house running it and they have no problems. What part of the crash dump are you looking at that indicates that Norton is causing problems. My big question is... Is Norton just conflicting with another driver and not really the problem?

Any further thoughts? Thanks ahead of time for any further input.

Well if you dont use the RTCORE64.sys simply rename it to prevent it being loaded (rtcore64.bak)


You have 3 other old drivers.

As far as Norton, that is your decision. It is in the top 5 causes of BSOD's.

Norton has been removed. I removed cpuz ROG edition and memtweakit and no longer see RTCORE64.sys.

I am still having an issue in which the display driver keeps crashing and recovering, event viewer is pointing to nvlddmkm.

I have attaced another memory dump, not sure if this is in the file or not.
I have seen a few things on the web that logmein might be causing this. Does anyone know what i can tak a look at to resolve that issue?
