Solved Random BSOD Error 0xc00000F4

Hi all

All of a sudden i have experiencing random BSOD's on my notebook, Memory dumps fail to be created. I have ran Memtest (10 passes) Passed. Have tried a system restore, Ran multiple antivirus/antimalware programs no no avail. One thing that i did find was if i run the HP diagnostics it fails my HD (smart check passed, Short dst failed) Failure ID Q4PSFQ-5JL6MP-MFH14J-6ORNO3 if that would help but if HP's tool is as good as there product i have nothing to worry about.

Seems to be more prominent just after reaching explorer (desktop) Whole system hangs, screen goes black then to BSOD and wont restart just stays on BSOD and my fan cranks into overdrive. First time i could hear my HD, sounded like it was stuck or pinging. Not a noise i have come across before

No new hardware.

First time here on WSF but i must say its seems to be one of the best from what i read. On that note I am not too sure what other info you masterminds require? Im guessing you can acquire most from my upload.

OK a couple of things, there dont seem to be any memory dumps in the files you provided, but from the sounds of things you are dealing with a failing hard drive. I digress lets start out with some testing first and foremost please follow this tutorial for testing your hard drive:

I have set up a full memory dump today but of course it wont BS now but i guess it will next time.. Do you have a usb bootable disk diagnostic tool? My Optical drive isnt working atm.

I was leading towards a disk probs too but i am pretty careful and its not too old. Around 2 years.

ISO to USB

use the above tool to burn the ISO that you download to a USB flash drive.

Ok i have a toshiba drive but their diagnostic tool isnt an ISO. I installed the recommended program but for some reason it wont let me select any drives. I have HD Tune 5.50 which i hope will do the trick? Can you use the logs from HD Tune?

Sorry that it seems i am not following you instructions.. Would i be better to use the Hitachi ISO?

Do you think the reason for no DMP being recorded is that the hard drive fails hence the BS?

Not sure, it could just be that the computer crashes so hard it doesnt have a chance to create a dump file, or it may be that the dump files are configured to be put some where other than the default location, or something other than small memory dumps are configured.

OK HD Tune will take hours to do a full error check.. There are a few warnings in the health tab (See Attachment) It sure does crash hard. No notifications of explorer not workin or stopped responding..

Im currently configured to a full memory dump. Is that not needed? I can revert to small or kernel if needed.

a small dump is all that is needed for this situation.

Ok looking at the reports i can see that there are reallocated sectors, which tells me that there is in fact damage to the HDD and it should be replaced as soon as possible:

Thanks for you great help and im gonna say thats a rap? Im 250gb into the scan with one Damaged block (244 MB) and more to come i guess.. Ok i will look into a new one soon.

Have i got a bad model HDD? I've never had one die on me b4 and weird on this notebook as it never sees the sun. My others have had a hard old life

All of my drives have always been either Seagate, Western Digital or Corsair, it could just be that the drive had some minor mechanical flaw, or in the case of a laptop they are often moved around a lot more than desktops making the drives more susceptible to failure.
