Hi ive been having a problem with BSOD, it normally happens when the computer is not being asked for much ie website browsing, I can play games like battlefield 4 for hours with no issues but when I stop playing and look at forums etc it will more than likely crash, I appreciate any advice or help you can give.
Many thanks. :D

Hello, tony2tubes and welcome to the forums. I will try to help you if I can. What I am seeing is an indication of hardware problem, but I'm given no indication of exactly what it is. If you could tell me as much as possible of what exactly is happening, that would be very helpful, as detailed as possible. Also have you noticed anything unusual happening with your computer?

I would suggest first of all install Microsoft Security Essentials and update it and do a full scan.
Microsoft Security Essentials (Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows)

If you would, please boot into safe mode and see how your computer runs. See if you still get BSODs in safe mode. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/69585-safe-mode.html

Safe mode runs with minimal drivers, so some things may not work as you are used to. The reason I am asking this is, the error you received is either Hardware malfunctioning or a driver that causes a piece of hardware to act unusual enough to make Windows think it is malfunctioning. safe mode only installs the drivers necessary for Windows to work, so a bad driver most likely wouldn't be loaded. I am trying to determine if it is hardware or a driver.

If you are overclocking anything, please set everything back to defaults until we get this figured out.

Please let us know what happens.

Hello essenbe and thanks for your reply, my issues started in November when I turned my pc on one day, when it got to the enter password screen on start up the pc froze, I pressed reset button but had the same result, starting in safe mode seemed to be ok. I had only installed one programme the day before which was procon, never had any issues with pc before this so I thought I would remove procon and try it, but had same results.
The next day I started pc in safe mode to try to do a system restore, but just as it was gathering info needed the pc froze again and was unresponsive as before, so I reset and let pc start in normal mode.
When it got to desktop I noticed the AI suite icon in the bottom right hand side of the screen which was odd as I had removed this software months earlier as it was causing issues with pc, the pc would freeze again and nothing I did would help so I thought a full clean install would be needed, so I reinstalled windows. It is since the reinstall that I am getting my BSOD, so im not sure if it is bad timing and a component is breaking down or have I made an error in reinstalling windows.

MY pc specs are asus P8Z68-vpro/gen3 mainboard, i5 2500k cpu, 8gb of g-skill ram, evga gtx 780ti classified gpu, corsair ax860 psu. Samsung 860 pro ssd

I do not have anything overclocked at the moment but did have previously up until approx 6 months ago when I got my gpu and decided to see how pc ran on stock settings.

I have ran memtest for 7 cycles I think it was with no issues, prime95 no issues, heaven and valley benchmarks no issues.

temps have never been an issue either. I will do the safe mode test but pc hasn't BSOD as frequently as it has previously so may be a few days before I can say if it does or does not.

Many thanks again for your help on this :D

Make sure your SSD Firmware is up to date and installed in port 0 or 1 of your Motherboard, the Firmware can be updated through Samsung Magician. Either one can be downloaded at SAMSUNG's Digital World Check the alignment of your SSD, http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/113967-ssd-alignment.html

Run checkdisk and Seatootls, both long and short test on the mechanical drives
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/313457-seatools-dos-windows-how-use.html#Part3
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html

If none of that helps, run startup repair. You mat have to run it up to 3 times with attempted reboots in between. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/681-startup-repair.html

I also recall you think memtest had no errors, please be sure. If not run it this way,
Please Run Memtest86+
picture.php

   Information
Please download from this site only http://www.memtest.org/ in the middle of the page are the Download links, you can download the ISO.zip or the Auto USB Flash Drive installer.zip

Extract the Zip file. If you chose the ISO image, burn it to a CD using Windows Disk Image Burner or any Image burner you may have. If you downloaded the Auto USB installer, extract it, insert your USB 2.0 Flash Drive and take note of the drive letter. Run the installer, select the Flash Drive Letter, check the format box and press next. It will install memtest86+ to a flash drive. You can use either V4.20 or V5.01. Boot from your selected media. If you use V5.01 it will tell you to press certain buttons at the start, please press no buttons. The test will begin on it's own and continue to run until you stop it. It needs to run for 8 complete passes or until you receive an error. If you receive an error, stop the test. Even 1 error is a fail. Each pass tests a different part of the ram and each of the 10 tests in each pass tests something different. It takes a minimum of 8 passes to completely test the ram, more passes are better. It is quite a long test and will take several hours depending on how much ram you have. Due to the time length it is best to run overnight. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask

I assume your SSD is disk 2 238GB. Go to where you are in the picture, type select disk 2 press enter, the command prompt should say disk 2 is the selected disk, then type list partition, and press enter, then post that screenshot.

You misspelled disk, you typed disc. Plus, I assume your SSD is disk 2, not disk o. Look at each disk, there is a number of the disk on the left. That is the number you want to use for your SSD. Your system specs list a 250 GB SSD, so disk 2 is your SSD, it looks like.

Diskpart
list disk
select disk 2
list partition

No problem about the error, but from looking at the size of the disks, you selected disk 0 and it looks like your SSD is disk 2. Looks like you disconnected the 2 750GB disks, so no problem.

I ran memtest last night for 8 passes and it had no errors. So I will carry out the other tests you posted above

ok I tried to run startup repair as per the guide but I get a message saying,

"This version of system recovery options is not compatible with the version of windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disc that is compatible with this version of windows."

I used the genuine windows 7 ultimate 64bit disc I bought to install windows onto the pc.

I am only getting BSOD ever since I reinstalled windows, and I have noticed over the past couple of days my screen has started going black for a few sec's just as if I turned monitor off and then on again, doesn't happen very often but may be a clue as to what the problem/s are.
just wondering if i incorrectly reinstalled windows.

It sounds like a video card problem. One of the Windows updates will install a driver for the video card. If youcan get into Windows for just a minute, uninstall the video card driver, and watch which updates Windows installs. Just right click and hide the video card driver for your card. It's looking like the card is bad. Any driver, it seems, won't allow you to boot.

Ello TT ;) Tis good to see you got lucky 3rd time lol..

@Steve Tony is a mate of mine from BSM but I've tried to help him as much as poss and have ran out of idea's so referred him here.

You'll be in good hands with Steve TT

Regarding the black screen issue, I can't remember which Nvidia driver you said you're using but the last couple of nights I've had the odd black screen on both monitors when quitting BF4. If left for about 2-3 mins the screen returns to normal but with the "Display Driver Stopped Responding And Has recovered" msg. I'm currently using 344.65 but have had this happen with a couple of the later drivers.

I know this isn't what's causing your BSOD's as its been happening for a while but could be part of your current issues.

Mine does it all the time on startup. The screen will go black for a few seconds to a minute then come back on. No driver stopped message though.

Did you use an upgrade version to install Windows?

just to clarify is it bad that my pc wont do a startup repair? im using a full windows 7 disc not an upgrade, and its a genuine disc not a copy. win7 ultimate 64 bit OEM sp1

Yes, it's bad. It should run startup repair with no problem, unless you have altered system files.

Please open an elevated command prompt ( click start, type cmd in the search box, right click on the cmd entry and select run as administrator) in the black box that opens, copy/paste sfc /scannow. If you decide to type it, notice the space between the sfc and the /. It is a system file checker which will scan your system files and attempt to correct any missing or corrupt files. What we want are the results to say windows found no integrity violations. If it says files were found but could not be repaired, close the box, reboot and run it again, after opening the administrative command prompt. You may have to reboot and run it three times for it to repair all system files. If it can't repair them after 3 reboots, let us know.
