Solved Random BSOD x124 caused by hal.dll

Decided this morning to just tear it all down and put it back together in stages. Came to the memory, used only 1 stick and 20 minutes in, I BSoD.
Shutdown the system and swapped out stick, and now i've been running multiple videos, web surfing and the such for a few hours without a problem... :sarc:

So I'll monitor the system for the next day or two with just a this single memory stick and see what happens.

(Memtest86, could you have failed me?)

As it is stop 0x124, it is hardware, no doubt.
But somehow it is indicating to the processor more than the Graphics card.

CPU is working well. GPU too. If you are right, HDDs to.

Before going for a new board, make it sure that the system heat is under control, and there is no accumulated dust in the machine.

Well, i've tried everything I've read about, heard about, and looked into. Nada.
I decided to do a vanilla install, but this time I get an error. BSoD during installation.

Included the dump to see if things are different. I was attemping to reinstall win7 and then update windows in dated groups rather than install all at once.

Any thoughts could be helpful.

It says that your processor fails to read dats sometimes. But Prime95 report is OK.
That is the contradiction.

If it crashes during installation, you go to Step 9 of the H2SO4,s guide. See if you can fing the problem by replacing parts one by one.

Sorry, but there is no other way.

Thanks ARC, I will begin this task hopefully soon. However, I've run into a curious problem. Looking into the BIOS update at MSI.com under downloads > BIOS it shows the newest one is v. 1.9 but if you go under support > CPU support, then search for my Phenom x6 T1100 it links to the zip file with v1.2 or v1.3??

Can you offer any suggestion? Should I flash the mobo back to v1.3? It's currently on 1.8.
Thanks.
I will try to procure a new CPU and test it out.

Hi Jakeulas! Never, never flash a BIOS backwards, it can make your board a paper wieght.
Flash it to the latest version 1.9.
What the CPU support page means is that your CPU is supported since the 1.3 BIOS update.

Thanks Britton30, I will update to 1.9 and leave it there. I guess I'll start with the CPU since that seems to be a point of problem.

Without spending too much, what would you recommend?

This is what I'm looking at just cause I want bang for buck, and if the CPU is the problem this will at least be comparable to what I'm replacing.

I have read through this so if I missed something hit me. OP post #4
I pull the side off and point a small fan at it. Reboot and go back to what I was doing before. Open a few web pages and start gaming again. Runs all day, no BSOD.

Has this problem been taken care of?

Complete new build from sept 2012
Either of those CPU would be OK, however the FX series has not been much of an improvement over the Phenom series. The FXs will run hotter as well, I've had both and I still have 2 Phenoms, one the 965 quad and one a 1055T hex core and both are stable and reliable.

How are your CPU temps with the H60?

Another cause of this BSOD, aside from heat, is having more than one security program installed. what do you have?
