Hey all -- first post, so I'll try to be as thorough as possible.

I've been having fairly random crashes for the past several months and I'm not sure what's to blame. The last major hardware change was the addition of a Seagate Barricuda 1TB to go alongside my WD Caviar Black, but that's been without any issues for the whole year or so it's been installed. Early on, I got actual BSODs, but now they're only distorted crashes and reboots.

I've run chkdsk a few times and memtest for a few hours and both tests reported no errors.

Usually my screen will distort and the audio will hang and the system will auto restart, and typically this happens while playing more intensive games. I played Binary Domain for a few hours this evening without issue, then switched over to Hawken and my system crashed within 10 minutes. I've also had this happen while watching videos and other less-intensive processes, but it's more rare. Occasionally, upon restarting, my system will get past post and start to load Windows, only to reboot again and finally load Windows. I've had this system for almost 4 years and it's been solid up until these past few months. I noticed the 5830 was running a bit hotter than normal via SpeedFan, so I cleaned it out today and dropped the temp about 9C, which is nice, but didn't solve the crashes.

BlueScreenView says my last 5 crashes were:

KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED 0x0000001e
SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION 0x0000003b
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED 0x0000001e
SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED 0x1000007e
POOL_CORRUPTION_IN_FILE_AREA 0x000000de

I've attached the SF Diagnostic zip to this post as well. I'd appreciate any help you guys can offer; I'm at wit's end here. I've taken my machine to a tech already and he couldn't pinpoint the problem, but he did add some wonderful antivirus programs. :banghead:

Attached. I noticed some of the listed filenames under BlueScreenView for the most recent dump had weird characters added, so it might be entirely fubar. Hopefully the others work.

One other thing I forgot to mention, but may or may not be BSOD related -- when I wake my machine from sleep, it turns on as normal, but USB peripherals and the display don't switch on unless I tap the soft reset button. Unless you guys think it could be crash-related, I won't go into much detail here, but MS says it's an issue with having a 1TB HD installed. Thing is, this just started happening alongside the crashes. I tried installing that hotfix, but for some reason it says it's not compatible with my machine.

I'm going crazy, guys. :D Also that's the best signature ^

OK. I think that particular dmp is a lost cause. Lets forget that one. As soon as you get a new BSOD, upload just that dmp file here.

What about the others? Did they work out?

e: I'm trying my hardest to trigger another crash, but now I'm stable. I just need to keep up this mindset I guess.

Well, first crash in several days just a few minutes ago, but no minidump was generated.

I'll keep trying in the meantime. Could someone take a look at the previous dumps and see if there's anything in common?

e: Spoke too soon -- got another and with a minidump (attached) this time.

Yeesh. Well, I'll try again with the SF tool and Windows zipping. If it's still broken I'll try 7ZIP.

e: more crashes today (1/18) while doing nothing. I'm just going to reinstall Windows.

Well! New day, new Windows installation, new BSOD. BlueScreenView says it's a System Service Exception, code 0x0000003b, and notskrnl.exe and win32k.sys are to blame. Dump is attached.

A little odd since this was after I reinstalled Windows and grabbed the latest driver from the AMD site, but oh well.

I had another crash (attached) shortly before I uninstalled the video driver and DDU'd it, but now I'm running with the new driver and no crashes yet.

Five days without a crash! And then...

So close to thinking it was over. System Service Exception, BSV points to win32k.sys again.

Have you got driver verifier turned on?

Which version of the display driver is currently installed? Please upload your msinfo32.nfo file here please.

I'm fairly sure I have driver verifier turned on.

I'm not sure where to find msinfo32.nfo, but I found the msinfo executable. I've attached a shot of the gfx page.

By batch you mean driver verifier, right? And I'm supposed to check Verify on all non-Microsoft drivers, and then Finish?
