So for the last few months I've been randomly bluescreening in the middle of a video (both youtube and MPC-HC) and various games.

This began shortly after updating GPU drivers. I have tried updating them again which hasn't helped. Will try going back to an older version.

Please uninstall everything of AMD using Display Driver Uninstaller and install new drivers from AMD. Be sure to install as less as possible software using custom/advanced options, you can use this tutorial to do so :ar: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...install-without-catalyst-install-manager.html

I have always used DDU to uninstall old drivers on this rig. The more recent crash dump in the attachment was with Crimson 16.6.2, older one with 16.3.2.

Currently trying out Catalyst 15.7.1 (minimal installation, just the drivers themselves) as I didn't have any instability before moving on to Crimsons. Will try the most recent version if this proves unstable as well.

So it bluescreened again but with a different bug check code (MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION, 9c) and this was after playing several hours, way beyond the point by which it would've surely happened previously. Looking at the crash dump in bluescreenview, it's pointing at hal.dll.

Given the code and that this isn't the first time it's blaming a windows component (as seen in the other dump in the 1st post attachment) I'm wondering if this is actually a hardware issue.

Malware and virus scan, SFC scan, chkdsk, windows memdiag at extended found nothing. CPU temps peak at 60, GPU at 81.

This is why it points to HAL, it is the first driver before the last NT call which goes to the bugcheck.
It is a very basic explanation, something didn't respond to a call for some reason causing the hardware crash,
Code:
 # Child-SP RetAddr Call Site
00 fffff880`009f5b38 fffff800`02820818 nt!KeBugCheckEx

04 fffff880`009f5cf0 fffff800`028c4b53 nt!KxMcheckAbort+0x6c
05 fffff880`009f5e30 fffff880`04002c61 nt!KiMcheckAbort+0x153
06 fffff880`02d1bb58 fffff800`028cfbe9 intelppm!MWaitIdle+0x19

08 fffff880`02d1bc40 00000000`00000000 nt!KiIdleLoop+0x2c
That Bluescreen Viewer or WhoCrashed, or any other similar program, points to HAL with hardware crashes isn't really useful and they can't say anything more which is what makes them useless.

Please update the LAN driver & BIOS Gigabyte provides.

Updated the LAN drivers 2 days ago. Will try BIOS update if still unstable, no crashes so far... then again I've only found the time to play rather casually since the LAN driver update, not much of a stress test.

In case I have to update the BIOS, is there a way to find the motherboard revision number without opening the case and physically looking? I will of course do it if needed but if there's an easy way out I'm listening :) CPU-Z or the system info tool couldn't find it for this board.

I do not think there is another way to find the revision number than the physical way.

Another BSOD, in the middle of a youtube video this time. Been a while since the last time it did that. It also didn't restart automatically nor generate a crashdump this time.

BIOS has been updated.
