Solved Random but often BSOD on Win7

I have recently bought an Aspire TimeLineX 4820TG with 64bit Windows 7 Home Premium installed.
At the store I was received an extra 2GB of RAM and had this installed then and there by the professionals.

I have been having regular crashes or BSOD's, where the notebook will freeze, then restart moments later. This occurs very often sometimes days apart, sometimes a few times a day.

I have installed installed all driver updates through the local Acer driver application.

I have purchased external USB cooling fans to cool the unit, as the system is sometimes used to play graphically intensive games. Crashing seems to occur no more often in or out of games, or at elevated temperatures.

I have run checks on all drivers installed and only two are unsigned, these two I have checked online and found them to be compatible with Windows 7. (They are: Mungodriver.sys and vclone.sys)

I have also updated my bios to version 1.19, which seems to have made little difference. I have researched this problem and have found some people account this problem to power management, and RAM speeds or amounts. Most recommend updating the bios as I have done. I have also disabled all options in my power management settings so that sleeping, screensavers and even turning off of the monitor are all disabled. This has not helped my crashing problem. Some people recommend overclocking the RAM. This is a bit beyond my expertise, but I know that this might harm my hardware.

I have run virus scans using the latest Avast Antivirus with nothing found.

I have included a copy of my latest dump and system info.

Please help if you are able, I'd appreciate it greatly!

Welcome!

This hotfix should solve your issue: Stop error message when you run an application that transfers data by using the UDP protocol in Windows Server 2008 R2 or in Windows 7: "STOP 0x0000007F"

If it doesn't, remove ZoneAlarm with this tool: http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/free/support/cpes_clean.exe

Also remove Daemon Tools, and then remove SPTD with this tool: http://www.duplexsecure.com/download/SPTDinst-v174-x64.exe

Johnathan_King, Thank you for your prompt reply and welcome! :D

I have now installed the hotfix you recommended, and have uninstalled Daemon tools (as I not longer require it anyhow). I did however have trouble running the SPTD tool. When run, it displays no window or alert. When run as administrator it gives an error, claiming it is not a valid win32 application.

I will keep Zone Alarm till last, but am willing to ditch it if BSODs continue.
I shall reply with results as soon as I am able.

Again thank you for your help, you have been quicker and more helpful than the very Acer support company that boasts quick, helpful support!

Strange, you are the 2nd person in three days to report that error message. I'm not sure what's happening, to be honest.

Check in C:\Windows\System32\drivers for SPTD.sys. If you see it, delete it.

I have deleted SPTD.sys from C:\Windows\System32\drivers.

Still no BSOD but as I have said, sometimes it will not happen for a while, a day is about the longest.

It's an ambivalent feeling, waiting for a BSOD,... half hoping it never happens, half hoping it'll happen and know there is more to be done.

Terrific! Day two and not a single BSOD!
I am now confident this issue has been fixed.

Thank You Johnathan_King!

Thanks for the update! I'm glad to hear it.

I'll ask the moderators to mark this as solved. If the BSODs return, we can just ask them to mark it as unsolved again.
