I m having an issue with my PC. Since this morning it seems to randomly freeze. Initially i thought it was a program that was causing it...but it seems to do it even with just Chrome open. No hw changes etc have taken place at all....

I did a scan with my AV as well as Malwarebytes...nothing came up....just wondering...its been extremely hot in the east coast (NYC) and could this be caused by over heating? Its never happened before..(the comp is just over 2 years old pretty heavy use on a daily basis)

Any suggestions and advise appreciated. Thanks

You might have gotten a Windows Update that did not go just right. Try doing a system restore to the day before the trouble started. Let us know how things are going.

Thanks very much for your input Rich & BigMck greatly appreciated......funny enough when I did another deep scan in safe mode..it discovered a little nasty hiding...so I m wondering it might be that which was causing it....just goes to show...no matter how careful one is...it still gets you!!....

Just out of curiosity...how high is considered too hot? I was monitoring the heat using one of the third party software and it showed the CPU at 58C....that looked a bit too hot for me...but then again...i have no reference point as its never been an issue before

Sounds like memory or malware.

thanks for the help you guys...its greatly appreciated...

I ruled out any kinda hardware issues...(touch wood at least for now!!)....found out some of the windows updates since 3rd June failed to install correctly.....also as I ve found a trojan during a scan on Friday....I figured the best thing (and least time consuming) was to revert a back up image from before issues started.....i don't generally save anything much on the comp...so going back is never really an issue for me i guess...

Let me know if you think it wasn't the best way to deal with the issue as I can learn for the next time (hopefully not in the near future!!)

best regards and thanks again
