Every since I replace my hard drive (was some month ago) my OS started to "stammer" or "leaping"

It will give me random "freezes" for less than a sec on random times, it really hard to notice them though so I don't sure if "freezes" are the right word for them but they are there.

at first I thought it was my mouse since it mostly visible on cursor but I've notice that it also there when I do other stuff on the OS, I also had BSOD issue thanks to faulty ram but it been replaced and don't seem to cause this issue, Could it be the mobo? ,GPU?, CPU?, drivers?

I done a noob test with Process Explorer but I don't use it a lot so I don't sure if I monitor things right,
So far I didn't found any process that take more ram or CPU then usually, nor A lot of CPU stress in "interruption" section at all, (not to mention that my CPU, ram, and GPU don't seem stressed at all)

my CPU and GPU don't show any signs of being faulty and can ran high end games for hours without getting any BSOD or over heated

all of my HDDs were tested with Crystal Disk Info last version, they all seem fine (Well the HDD I installed month ago start to show signs that it dying but it don't have the OS on it), I have three HDDs with the exact same model, the two first I got year ago and they working fine, the last one was some month ago and I replaced it with some third Hitachi drive that I had which start show signs that it have bad sectors.. unfortunately my new HDD start to show bad sectors as all and I about to replace it, the OS worked like a charm even then (without the stammers and the OS was installed on other HDD of course)

I notice that when the internet is off that I don't get any lags but I only test it once today, it may be the net driver then?

Does it happen when you're watching videos on the internet like on Youtube or maybe playing some browser games or just in general?

It seem to happened when I browse on the pc, when I browse in the internet, and when I watch movie in the pc (With MPC and etc.) funny thing though is that it don't seem to happen to me at all when I play games

It really hard to notice though so it not annoy... too much at least, my pc work fast and don't feel like it slow down, and my hardware don't show any signs of being stressed

I had this issue happen a while back and solved it using a hot fix from Microsoft. Here is the link. Hope this helps

A computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7 stops responding randomly

FaberTech Thanks for the update ;)

But I don't sure if it my issue, non of my app or OS process shows any signs of randomly stops responding
I just have random lags that take less then a sec, some people probably won't even notice them.

It mostly visible for me when I open new windows, move the cursor, watch movie, and it randomly happens, process manger don't show signs that it open and close OS's process that case the issue.

I honestly don't sure what case it, it may be driver of sort

It may not help but have you tried right clicking any Flash game or video in a browser, clicking "settings" and un-ticking "Enable Hardware Acceleration?"

Yea I actually disable it to all of my browsers (IE10 and FF)

I didn't done it to Flash player though, but the issue appear even when nothing is really running, I can see it when I browse the PC (I mean folders, control panel, my computer, etc.)

When I saw that it happened to me when I simply watch video (on my HDD) without even moving the mouse or touching anything I start to suspect that it either OS process/driver or hardware

it not your orderly lag where you can clearly see it and suspect that it hardware stress, or video player codec, it happen really randomly (around 5 secs to 3 mins?) and it really really hard to notice, however it never happened to me before and it really annoy me (especially when I watch videos)

there's anything I can post which will make you guys determined the faulty process/driver faster? (without to use tools to test them one by one?)

there are some drivers and process which known for making issues in certain versions or when some setting is able

I do understand the problem you are having. I would not have posted this if I did not. A laptop I was working on was behaving the same way. There were no signs or reports that showed anything. After researching for a couple days, I found this as the solution. I started out my search with "random intermittent hangs with windows 7" (Mostly when I was using the web browser or a text editing program). After plunging deep into the rabbet whole, I found this, and it worked for me. So I am passing the knowledge on to you in hopes that it either fixes your issue or at least helps you in the right direction.

P.S. If the hot fix says it is not compatible, there is another one. For some reason there are two and the other one has a slightly different number. I just remember this because I picked the wrong one. This happened over a year ago.

Hello Egozi44,

Sorry to hear your computer is randomly freezing.

Have you checked to see if a nasty infection of malware is on your computer? This is most probably always the cause.

Malwarebytes - https://www.malwarebytes.org/
AdwCleaner - AdwCleaner Download

If Malwarebytes picks up anything, please export the log onto your desktop and upload it here.

Thank you,
VinnyBuxton

FaberTech Many thanks again, I don't sure if this relate to my issue because it mostly happened to me when my cpu and ram are low (ram on around 25% and cpu on 0% to 2-5%)

I don't really encourage to install hotfix or updates at all because of my experience with Microsoft updates (especially in win7) most of them were installed and works fine but some of them (especially new ones, hotfixes, or random ones that are better be installed Only after fresh OS format) give random issues that I may won't notice in the very first days but can pop up later, I'm aware that updates can be uninstalled but usually the issue will be still there unless I will use system restore... which I probably won't want to do after a lot of days will pass.

Either way I would like use updates as my last resort.

There's any other way to try and detect faulty driver that may cause the issue? I suspect Intel rapid storage for some reason....

Thank VinnyBuxton , I did scan my pc with Malwarebytes, Spyware doctor, Nod32, and windows defender, all of them didn't found any virus, they all set right to find hidden rootkit or any potential threat or process, I also set them all up to not conflict with each other or to take too much ram or cpu and use them for years even since good old XP

Hello Egozi44,

Thank you for replying.

Good that it didn't find anything, that's one step out of the way.

There's a potential risk of using Windows XP now, there's no-more security patches for it and it's not secure and most hackers will try to target it.

Run Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit BETA https://www.malwarebytes.org/antirootkit/
Run Disk Defragmenter How To Analyze and Defragment a Disk in Windows XP

Are you able to post screenshots of the programs that you have installed?

Thank you,
VinnyBuxton

I didn't said I use WINXP :sarc:

I just said that I used all of these anti virus together ever since I still was with good old xp

My profile shows that I use win7 64 bit :geek:

through I didn't updated some of it security updates since they seem to come with random issues with them

Right now I use win7 64x with Most updates but not all update (mostly recent updates of the beginning of 2014)

Thanks

I saw that the issue don't seem to appear on safe mod so I guess Clean Boot mod is not needed

the only issue is that if I want to determine the faulty process then I need to check them all one by one with clean boot ;( (which that what I was afraid of)

And I didn't understood what screenshot you wanted from the event viewer?

It have ton of repots and I don't found any critical error or warning

I actually went and deleted Intel rapid storage and the issue stopped... for some time and now seem to came back :/

I have many but most of them don't have auto start up process , I recall there is a way to give you all my apps in the system via note (via dxdiag or something of sort)

How I do it again?

Catwiz how I take it? from where?

Maybe I really should try the hot fix that FaberTech suggest?

But I really afraid of getting more issues thanks to that....

This is another hot fix that may interest you and could be the issue. P.S. It could have been this one. Its been a while ;)

Computer randomly stops responding because of a deadlock situation in Windows Server 2008 R2 or in Windows 7

Here is a Microsoft fix it link for random freezes found from this page. ( Windows 8.1, Windows 8 or Windows 7 hangs or freezes )

Download Link:

http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9740820

FaberTech do you recall if the issue start for you only after you ram was on high use only once?

Because in my case I've noticed that my ram most of the time is on low use, but when I start do things that may higher it a bit the issue begin and still there even when the ram goes back to be on low use

I didn't fully check it to be more precise but I assume that opening ton of tabs on Firefox does it :3
