Random freezing with buzzing sound from speakers

Hi,

I'm having this problem for 2 years now, and I still haven't found the solution, so I would like you to please please help me, because it's driving me nuts

Problem:
Mostly when I play games, or use my webcam or in screensaver mode my computer freezes and there's a strange buzzing static noise coming from my speakers and all that I can do is shut my computer down with hitting the back on/off button and resetting the whole comp. Sometimes, I can play games all day and nothing happens.
Temperatures are ok.

It's not like the loop from what was playing before it happened, It's always the same noise.
There are no BSOD, error reports, nothing at all.


My specs:
CPU Type: QuadCore Intel Core i7 860
Motherboard Name: ASRock H55M
Motherboard Chipset: Intel Ibex Peak H55, Intel Lynnfield System
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series

Things that I tried to do:
1. Changed rams
2. Changed heatsink for cpu
3. Installed new fans for case
4. Reformatted windows several times
5. Every driver is updated
6. cleaned every single component, except for PSU which I'm too scared to open..can I get hurt :sarc:?
7. changed hard drive ( warranty replacement)

All of those things that I tried were unsuccessful.



Please help me, I'm devastated.

It just happened again, those are the temperatures ( while playing minecraft )..

Yes you can get hurt inside the PSU - don't mess with it, just blow it out with canned air (don't use a vacuum or an air compressor as it can cause damage to the components).

CPU is too hot, check the cooling solution that you're using.

Ok, I'll buy canned air.
Do you really think that my CPU is too hot, even though I was playing a game? It idles on 31-35°C...
I reapplied the thermal paste just yesterday, and I'm using AKASA cooler, not the stock one.

Lot's of processor checks around the time that you shut down Windows.
I'd suggest:
- monitoring temps with HWINFO: HWiNFO, HWiNFO32 & HWiNFO64 - Hardware Information and Analysis Tools
- Prime95 and CPU Stress tests: Additional Hardware Diagnostics

Hello.
My hard drive and external hard drive all passed the test (I'm using WD checker to check the health of my hdd).
Temperatures are following:

Just a hunch, but I once burned myself pretty severely on a video card that wasn't reporting correct temps (that's the way we found out that it was the video card). Luckily for the owner it was under warranty - so we replaced it for free (but not the burnt skin on my hand!).

It's looking more and more like an overheating problem to me.
Try opening the side of the case and pointing a house fan into it.
See if that increases the amount of time before you have problems.
If that's the case, then it's a cooling problem of some sort.

The next time it occurs, unplug the system from the wall.
Hold onto the metal of the case with one hand.
CAREFULLY feel around inside the case (don't actually touch anything - just come close).
You're feeling for something that is significantly hotter than the CPU and/or GPU (or if either of them feel too hot to touch safely).

I think it's also overheating problem :'(. I bought new 120 mm fan today, hooked it up on CHA_FAN and it does not work :'(

Can you hook it up to a lead from the PSU in order to test it?

Hello, I got it to work. I tried PRIME95, temperatures are pretty much the same, but the computer did not freeze.
How come that the temps are the same but it didn't freeze? Just coincidence?

It's possible that another component (one that may not have a sensor) is overheating.
Try seeing if anything else is excessively hot.

The next time it occurs, unplug the system from the wall.
