So i've built many computers, but never come over this problem before.

My computer randomly reboots back into windows when I leave it idle for a longer period of time. Last night it took about 3hours from i left my computer untuil it rebootet. During this time an automated process started downloading different things. They were all completed when i logged back in today.

All of this started a while back for no reason, no new driver, no new hw. After a week, i changed a storage hdd and at the same time moved my SSD (with OS on) from one SATA port to another. Suddenly I had no problems. Then used a normal HDD in the SATA port that was used for SSD earlier with no problems.

Now ive done further upgrades and are running low on SATA ports so i had to swap my SSD back into it's old SATA port and the problem occoured the next night.

I realize that the problem might be the SATA port, but that 1 sata port out of 6 should give this problem, and that the other SATA port in the same chipset is working fine makes no sence. The SATA port also works fine with other hdd's, its just when i use my OS SSD on it.

The SATA port in question is Port1 of the 6Gb/s ports on the Intel Z77 chipset
(Intel® Z77 chipset :
2 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), gray
4 x SATA 3Gb/s port(s), blue
Support Raid 0, 1, 5, 10
Supports Intel® Smart Response Technology, Intel® Rapid Start Technology, Intel® Smart Connect Technology)

In Port2 there is a 3tb hdd that works fine. This hdd was in port 1 earlier and worked fine, the SSD have the same problem in Port2, but port 3 and 4 works fine. Those are only 3Gb/s. And yes I am aware that the 3Gb/s port is good enough.

Done some research but can't really find any good answer to what is going on. Here is the only logg i got from my computer:
The previous system shutdown at 4:46:10 AM on ‎3/‎12/‎2014 was unexpected.

Hello and welcome ThaProZac mate I have just had a very similar problem with my Ivy Bridge (P8Z77-V board) and I lost connections to the front dock a from a couple of the 6GBs SATA ports.

Now I don't know how or why but just reinstalling the Asmedia driver (there are Intel and Asmedia drivers) for these put things back on track just as I was thinking the front docking ports were trashed. So it might be worth running the drivers for those ports again.

Thank you for you responce. Might have been a bit quick in the post above, all drivers have been reinstalled and updated all of them, with no change :(

Hum might be worth running these if not done already

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html
and I am also thinking maybe a hard drive test and / or a memtest.

The Samsung Magician could do the test on the drive Samsung Magician Software: OS Optimization Feature Overview | Samsung SSD

and for the other

MEMTEST

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.htmlthis one you will need to make a bootable disk set the BIOSto optical (or USB if preferred) boot the machine and let it run for at LEAST 8 passesunless the errors come up straight away. Takes fair time to complete and someleave it running overnight.
