random restarts --> "Problem Event Name: BlueScreen Locale ID: 1038"

Dear Forum people,

I have just reinstalled my desktop 2 days ago, and now I am having random restarts/crashes. I cannot correlate to any specific software or task when it happens.
I have also updated my BIOS to the newest version before Win7 reinstall. I have only a couple of programs installed so far, and the newest drivers for my motherboard, videocard, etc...

I already did MEM test, but the RAMs looks ok.
I have also attached the zip file created by the SF Diagnostic Tool as it was described.

Any help is welcomed! :)

(ps.: I have licenced win7 ultimate + Bitdefender Antivirus Plus)

Hi koolkat77,

Thanks, but you think this BSOD error and random restarts are related to a non-activated Windows?
Anyway, I just did an automatic activation from start menu, and I got the screen saying that, activation was succesful, and I have a genuine win7 op system.
But I do not understand how this activation is related to my BSOD error?

EDIT: just a few minutes, and I will post the required data...

Uninstall your current antivirus as it is contributing to your BSOD's. Replace with Microsoft Security Essentials & the Free version of Malwarebytes, update and make full scans separately:
  • :info: Do not start the trial version of MalwareBytes

Hello, thanks for the advices!

Actually I have paid money for the Bitdefender Antivirus Plus software, and I would like to use it. I have used this antivir soft in the last one year without any problem, on this PC and on my laptop.
Therefore, I think I will try first to uninstall and install again it, maybe it will help?

2.: I already tried "sfc /scannow " method, it did not show any error or problem.

3.: I will try the "chkdsk" when I get home tonight...

thanks again!
Regards,

I suggest removal for testing purpose. You can always put it back if it weren't the cause of your problems :)

Ok, it is clear now :)
Thanks, I will reply when I have some results.
Regards,

EDIT1: First I just reinstalled Bitdefender. After several minutes, I got a BSOD restart crash again.
Now I removed Bitedefender, and I use the free Microsoft Security Essential.
I will test this for the next two days, lets see whether I get BSOD or not. I will post the result.

hello,

My PC just produced another BSOD restart, now with equipped with Microsoft security ess.
The symptom: I was just reading something in Firefox, and suddenly the mouse got frozen. I could not move it, and after 3 sec, the system restarted.

I get the very same message as posted above.
I also did chkdsk, it did not find any error in file system.
Any other suggestion?
Thanks very much,
Regards,

Hello,

The problem seemed to escalate yesterday just before I wanted to start the "perform a clean startup - reduce items on start" method.

Interestingly the system did not restart, neither crashed, but it was continously "laggy", the mouse cursor moved hardly, and also its shape and color changed.

So just as try, I removed the newest Nvidia driver (320.49), and I did a restart. Win7 automatically installed on the fly an older Nvidia driver (311.06 version). Since this, my PC did not crash again, and it looks ok.

So I really hope this was the real source of the problem, if not, I will do the above mentioned method (what looks quite a big effort).

Thanks for advices! If I do not get BSOD in the next days, I will mark this post as solved.
Regards,
