Random unresponsive mouse and extremely slow processing.

Hello all,

I have a bit of an odd problem. For about 3 days now, my comp will randomly "lock up" in a sense. I can move the mouse, but if I click on anything, I get a beep (through sound output, not the mobo). I can access task manager through the keyboard but usually it ends up in a restart. On restart, things seem to go back to normal.

When this "crash" happens, things move VERY slowly. I have also had two instances where everything functions extremely slowly but KB/M do work. Also ends up in a restart.

I have not installed any new programs and it usually happens while web browsing or word processing. I have recently been playing Dragon Age: Inquisition with no issues so it seems to possibly be software related or maybe HD?

I ran a memory test, all good there. Ran anti-virus fulls can, all good there. Windows is up to date. I tested my SSD using crystal disk and also OK there.

Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.

Still having this issue about 4 or 5 times a week.

No suggestions? The most recent time...it had random "beeps" without me having to click on anything. CPU usage was also near 90% when this happened.

Anything in Event Viewer?

Set your Task Manager to open to the Processes tab, arrange by CPU, next time it happens, see which process is eating the CPU.

Sheesh, it's been nearly two months and I have been "event three" until three days ago. I was able to get into event viewer and there's no app eating up CPU...in fact it appears as though my CPU utilization doesn't even really spike...Also my Mobo makes the random beep too I've now noticed....

Is this a desktop?
Try re-seating {and cleaning} everything, I only get random beeps now with bad RAM, switching to new stops that.
Get a utility that gives feedback on mobo voltages, eg HWMonitor @ majorgeeks<DOT>com.

It is a desktop...I was safe again for several weeks and it's back bad now again...this is so bizarre. I hate to default to the noob solution of formatting but I might do so!
