Randomly named folders on USB Drives

Anyone have any thoughts on these randomly named folders? These folders show up at the whim of Windows and require additional security to access the subfolder which is empty. This is an HP G72 laptop with an Intel I3 processor so the amd64 name is very misleading.

I searched the forum and found one comparable post from four hundred and something days ago. Wasn't sure how you all feel about resurrecting zombie threads so I started a new one.

They look like temporary folders for driver installations. Have you installed any updates from HP recently?

The also look like temp folders for Windows Updates. The amd64 part typically refers to the fact that the x64 update is being applied to your x64 OS.

Just Windows Update that runs at 0300h on Monday mornings and daily updates to MSE. It seems odd that the system would put these in the root directory rather than a temp folder.

I just noticed one of these on the system volume. This could become a problem over the years as orphaned update folders clutter up the system.

Yeah, I have 5 of these folders in my C drive as well, all due to Windows Updates. Do you think it's safe to delete them, or do they need to stay there forever? >.< Guess I could hide them...
