Hi,

I recently purchased a Razer Kraken 7.1 USB Headset and I can hear static but only when audio is playing. If I am in game or watching a video, I will hear the static. I changed one program from Surround Sound to Stereo and the static stopped for that program, but then later the static returned. I searched around and it seems that a lot of people are having this problem, and it may be a USB issue. I also checked to see if the "listen to this device" option was enabled, it was not. If there is no solution for this, should I return this one and get a 3.5mm version, or get a USB to 3.5mm adapter?

Thanks

USB headsets do not use the PC's audio system, they have built in electronics to convert the digital to audio. Sounds like it could be the headset, if the regular PC audio does not have this problem.

Ok, so what do you suggest that I should do if it is the headset?

I would contact the vendor (or place where you purchased it) about returning for a replacement.

If you have another PC or a friend that will allow you to install it on their PC you could do that to test. If the same problem on a different PC it could very well be a defective unit.

I tried it on my laptop and it still has the same type of static. I might just decide to deal with it, but I will contact the vendor if I would like to replace it.
