Your reported problem match with the non genuine advises generated by any "kind" of crack on Windows Seven...

The only thing available to you now is to reinstall RC 7100. You probably have to do a complete clean installation (no real choose), hence, the loss of all your data. If you have excess to a ubuntu startup disk use that to save whatever data you have on your HDD. There are several programs out there that can be used to test your ISO copy of Win 7 to determine if there is a problem (Google: Windows7IsoVerifier). Hope this helps. It is always sad when the system "Goes South" on you.

Insert the Win7 DVD and go to repair, then advanced move down to command function. not exactly 100% sure on moves., when in DOS or command. type this:
System Restore from command line:
rstrui.exe /offline:C:\windows
if there is any restore version available. it will restore to that: earlier date.
reason is if you also use XP it deletes the thtry for restore but the file is still there.

even safe mode will give dos command option. it also works from there.

I did not mention it at first, but I reported it later ... I got the boot sector screwed up and rebuilt the partition table. After that a repair install restored the XP boot, but not W7. I finally found a utility that could restore the Vista boot loader, and maybe that is the issue ... if the Vista boot loader is not the same as the W7?

nope, there was nothing saved to restore to ... I will have to remember to do thoese from now on.

Build 7600 is not legally available from sources outside of MS distribution channels.

No.. once it went RTM, all official channels for test builds were closed. The only way to obtain a copy legally is through MSDN/TechConnect or similar subscription sites...
