Friends
I am trying to recover what is recoverable of a system that had a lot of files overwritten via a factory restore. This actually is a security issue since apparently, the way that Acer implemented the restore partition access, it is completely unsecured unless the user knows that he/she needs to set a bios-level password. Thus, the protections that were in place for user files etc under Windows 7 were of no help since the Recovery process is "blind" to such contrivances.
So in this case, though the Recovery does not include a "secure overwrite" deliberately, it did a lot of damage, overwriting most of the useful and important files that happened to be on the system.
I'm trying to figure out if there is any way to get the CONTACTS data that was stashed in Outlook. Outlook apparently embeds that data along with a lot of other current data in the big Outlook.pst. All instances of Outlook.pst on this drive are overwritten and marked as unrecoverable.
Is there:
- any way to reconstruct an overwritten Outlook.pst?
- any other avenue for finding the Contact data in part or in whole?
thanks for all tips.
