Is there a reason you didn't attach the new disk inside the pc ?

That would use one of the motherboard sata connectors and one of the power connectors, just like any other internal disk.

I liked the Dual Disk Internal Dock you mentioned.
I installed it today and it is GREAT!

I had started the copy and had so much time invested, I was hoping it would end on it's own, it didn't.
Once the Internal Dock was installed, I reran the copy of the Backup Partition.
It took about 3 1/2 hours.
Now or maybe tomorrow, I'll get back to the Clean Install.

Did I mention?

I like it so much, I am ordering another.
The HP-8300 Tower has three external 5 and 1/4 inch Bays.
I currently have a DVD Drive and the Internal Dock.
In a week I should have two Internal Docks.

One problem is having a 19 Pin Power connector on your Motherboard.
I had to work around not being able to utilize it.
The 8300 doesn't appear to have one.
I have found a PCI Card that appears to provide this flexibility, it has two Sockets so I should be "good to go".
Thanks again for such an innovative and well made I/O Device.

The best upgrade you can give to any computer is to add a SSD for windows and programs.
You will regret not having one before.

The device I installed:
Syba SY-MRA55006 5.25" Bay Tray Less Mobile Rack for 3.5" and 2.5" Sata III HDD with Extra 2 Port USB 3.0, Black

The Dock I purchased came with a long black power cord.
It also came with several other options to power the Unit.
To use the long black one, the Motherboard needs to have a 19/20 pin adapter built on the Motherboard to plug into.
The descriptions I have seen say 19/20, 19 actual pins and one dead / blank position.
There were also Sata power adapter cables and Molex cables.

Th black cord powers the two usb3 ports on the front if I understand it correctly.

Th black cord powers the two usb3 ports on the front if I understand it correctly.

It plugs into the usb3 header on the motherboard ( if you have one).

It is not a requirement, it can just be left unattached.

If you don't have a usb3 header on the mobo, it can be added via a pcie expansion card.
Something like this doesn't require an additional power supply

Things did not go as planned / anticipated!

With the Internal Dock installed / operational, I tried to insert a 2.5 inch SSD.
No matter how I maneuvered it, it would not seat properly.
I then tried a 2.5 inch HD and it seated properly on the first try.
Unable to seat the SSD, I defaulted to the 6TB Dynamic Drive and it also seated properly.
I ran SIW2's Diskpart procedure and returned it to a Basic Disk.

At this point I needed an operational Clean Install Windows 7 System more than bogging down with the SSD.
I have almost completed the Clean Install.
It is incomplete due to one Important Update not installing.
I have also completed a File Transfer which appears to be perfect.
I will include one Attachment that display / identify the Important Update that will not take.
Any advice on installing will be appreciated as I have run out of options / guesses.

Using simplix avoids those issues.

I have just done a clean installation,updated using simplix with the net framework 4.8 addon next to it.

After that check windows update.

It gave these which are useful



and these which are useless and deliberately omitted by simplix , so I have hidden them.

Installed SP1 from the Media.
Ran Simplex.
Checked for Updates.
Found about 30 to 32 Updates.
Applied all of them.
.NET would not install.

Not sure what you are doing wrong. I usually update the media, then use the updated media to install, it is quicker.
