Most email, web sites have specific instructions to set up POP, you may want to take a look. Sometimes they make you use different port numbers, others will not let you send using their address, if you are using POP, in that case you must send through your ISP email.

In your account, under the servers tab. Do you have the right box checked? There are 3 choices text authentication, pop and password, I think it is. In any event, you will find it in the servers tab.

You cant receive. Let us know what you entered for: incoming on the servers tab (do not include your email just say [email protected], if that is what you put. Give us all the entries under the advanced tab. I will compare with my email and we will talk about the differneces.

Hey there are many here with much more knowledge than me, but none more stubbron; we will get this done.

outgoing mail: 25

Check your port 995, mine is 110. Yours may not be wrong, but double check. Look for specific instructions concerning the port that should be used.

My account does not show that a secure connection is required for incoming. Try removing the check.

If this does not work, did this email account came with the ISP or it is an email account that you found on the web. For example Yahoo, gmail or others?

Did these settings work before you switched to Windows 7?

Finally, don't get discouraged. We will both get the feeling of satisfaction when we find out the answer to this problem.

this from there wed site

  1. Make sure that the two This server requires a secure connection (SSL) check boxes are not ticked, as shown above. If one or both are ticked, de-select them by ticking in the box.
  2. Make sure that Outgoing Mail (SMTP) is set to 25, and that Incoming Mail (POP3) is set to 110.
If you make any changes in this screen, click on Apply.
  3. To exit the Properties screen, click on Apply. This takes you back to the Internet Accounts window.

also from the web site:

  1. On the same screen, make sure that the Account name and Password are correct for this email account.
  2. Check that both the Log on using Secure Password Authentication and My server requires authentication check boxes are not ticked, as shown above. If one or both are ticked, de-select them by clicking in the box.If you make any changes in this screen, click on Apply.

I thought the server was just pop.ntlworld.com (without the 3)? Not sure how you got it working without changing that.
