Realtek AC'97 Audio

It's not working (and gives the error shown in the first screenshot). Every driver I have tried has the same problem

Ok i'm going to try advise that i would advise against doing, but seeing you have no other choice, due to the fact that the vendor hasn't scripted it yet we might give it ago.

First uninstall the Acer driver.

Then with the .inf file here.

Right under the blue lines you highlighted.
Put in the first two lines from the Detais tab as seen here.

Note: Have the %ALCAUD... in there too as seen with the rest of the PCI entries. So basically you are just adding two more code PCI lines. Effectively adding this

%ALCAUD.Desc%=AC97AUD, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24D5&SUBSYS_00311025&REV_02
%ALCAUD.Desc%=AC97AUD, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24D5&SUBSYS_00311025

Save this .inf file.

Then go and reinstall this Acer driver.

See how you go.

Just tried that and it didn't work, same thing happens

Didnt think it would either, but worth a shot i suppose. Sorry yoshiDan, but i feel you have to google for this driver, sometimes the driver you are looking for is part of a set of driver's like chipset driver. Follow my lead for finding the PCI ID in the .inf file before installing otherwise trial installing it's up to u.

Ah bugger. Thanks for the help

I might just have to go the easy way out and buy a cheapo pci sound card on eBay.
