When my laptop finishes playing a sound or music, it sometimes makes a feedback noise that lasts forever until interrupted by another sound. It's barely audible but still very annoying. This is probably not an OS issue, since this problem was present in both XP Home 32bit SP3 and 7 Pro 64bit. But it wouldn't hurt to ask here anyway.
What I've tried so far:
-Sound driver update
-Used both earphones and speakers to confirm the noise is not coming from hardware.
-Muted all input/output volumes except the speakers.
