Hi all,

Couple of days ago, I have installed Windows 7 RC x64 on my laptop(emachines e725). It's running great except the sound. There is no sound at all !!! I've tried number of drivers but nothing changed. Everything seems ok, when I check device manager and sound options. But ...

My current driver is r223 from Realtek website. You can find screenshots attached. Is there a way to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hey man, welcome to the forums!

You are not alone. Several of us have had not luck getting Realtek audio to work. One of my PC's uses ALC850, but there are not drivers for Windows 7 for ALC850. The Vista drivers do nothing.

Please do this for us though...if you do find a resolution, please make sure you come back here and let us know how you did it. We of course will do the same for you.

Hi Atropin and welcome to Se7en Forums

What happens when you plug external speakers or headphones in? Do you get sound with them?

Hi all,

I have the same problem. My motherboard is an ASUS K8V-VM.
All seems to be OK but se7en says I don't have audio hardware.
All I found is installing the realtek driver R2.23 (very boring installation because I had to say exactly 25 times that I really want to install it : this driver is not recognized by se7en)
The sound works well until I reboot the PC, and I've to repeat this operation each time I use se7en.
Disactivating the driver's "signature" (in french's version) when pressing F8 during the boot changes nothing.
By the way that's better than nothing for testing applies that use sound.
I'll tell you if I find the real solution.

I've got the same problem. I got a GIGABYTE motherboard GA-P35-DS4 with Socket 775, but there's two different rev. versions that I don't know the difference on. I've tried them both.
The first install worked(don't know what that version was), but after a few days of happiness over my sound working properly, I left my computer for a second, and the sound dissappears. I've tried both versions, uninstalled and installed, but nothing works. It has turned out sometimes, that I'd get my right speaker to work, but eventually it looks like the software doesn't seem to know, what input I'm using. One day I got it all working, but after some minutes the sound took off in small bits again(weird).
if anyone has the same problem, please answer and tell me what version I have to install, it's kinda getting me on the nerves.

Here's how I fixed this. I'm using a P45 DFI Blood Iron MB with Realtek onboard sound. I was seeing indications that the sound card was working but I received no output until I...

A) Installed the current drivers for 7 from the realtek site and...
B) Unplugged my speakers, moved them to a different sound port (didn't matter which one), and then moved them back to the speaker port.

Hope this works for you.

As you can see in this picture, the blue and green input in the right top and button is highlighted, as if an input was inserted. However I've only got my speakers jacked in to the one between, so I'm thinking.. bugged?

If your cannont install the Realtek HD Audio Driver, or it will not work after
installing the Realtek HD Audio Driver, you are advises to download the README of the driver.

Referencial web site:
Realtek

The README PDF tells us the Realtek HD Audio Driver does not support the ALC850. Driver for the ALC850 is the AC97 which you can download from the Realtek's website or the Station-Drivers:
http://www.station-drivers.com/page/realtek.htm

Please check your Audio compenece firstly, then install the correct driver.

Nothing changes if I uncheck digital output. Same result.

Already did that.

I have two devices with exclamation marks in device manager that I can't find drivers for. It's beyond me. I don't know what to do next. It's been this way with every build.
