It times it from when you hit the restart button till the desktop is active again and includes shutdown, POST time.

No, it calculates the time from when it shuts down, until it's back on the desktop. The more motherboard/chipset features/drivers you have, the longer it will take. You can set the POST time on some motherboard's BIOS.

I think it's mostly due to the Z87 Deluxe board, it spend less time fricking around in POSTing. It also has a "Fast boot" option which I used too. I think I can do better by turning off some USB initializing too. Of course I'll post if I get a lower time.:D

Gary what app are you using to get that readout please? Cos my Ivy takes forever in that POST bit too. But I only have the Z77-V board though.

Do you mean boots or reboots?

My last motherboard, an Asrock did a reboot in 14 seconds with my Vertex 4, I did post a screenshot on here but that was a long time ago. I guess maybe a 10 is possible.
