I have a pretty standard setup. Relatively new replacement HDD (not SSD) Toshiba 500GB. Not anywhere remotely close to using the full resources or capacities of the unit. I did the reboot test and achieved 114 seconds. The only operation I did not shut down for the test was the free Avast antivirus. Can I further test for what seems to be making startup much slower than it used to be?

Thought I'd try this since my system has been stable for a long time, and remembered this thread.

Great job. That's pretty darn quick, especially for an Asus Motherboard.

The big difference in reboot time was due to going from a normal boot partition to an EFI boot partition with Comparability Support Module disabled in BIOS. This required upgraded graphics card firmware that supported EFI boot. The handoff from BIOS/EFI to windows is way quicker with EFI.

46 seconds seemed to be stuck on the bios screen for an extra 10-15 or so seconds never did that before :/
I believe msconfig is on 30 seconds possibly that is effecting reboot more than startup items which there is only 2 Microsoft ones ?

turns out if you have a network drive mapped to a computer that's off, when you log on it waits about 90 seconds

Yea I believe it does it doesn't count how long it takes to enter a password though :/

Been a while since doing this
Probably security/ msi afterburner slowing it down otherwise Acer about the same,
Using msconfig and Boot and changing it to 4 seconds does shave a little off the time,


Asus 1 second longer not bad for all the extra crap on it

Mine was 36 seconds.

I split this time and I got:

24 seconds - Total time to power off computer.
12 seconds - Time to load Windows.
