Using Bootracer to clock it takes me 17 seconds to boot to the desktop. Used to be 15 seconds. The desktoips seems usable before that time though.

I downloaded the VBS. I didn't look at it so I am trusting you all :D

Now if I stopped all of those non essential services and startups I wonder what I would get.

Hate the touchpad & "Easy Software Manager" This is the best laptop machine I have ever owned, super fast performance at 1/2 the cost for a compatable Mac.
Very nice laptop and good restart time.

Do you notice an improvement with the 8GB mSATA SSD for caching.

Dave76,
I’m not sure how to answer your question. I purchased this machine new in Aug of this year. Right out of the box it was fast in all regards. I wanted to upgrade the RAM, this machine came with 6GB RAM and capable of 8GB max. A few weeks ago I ordered an 8GB card for slot 1. After installing the card, I only had 4GB of RAM. Long story, after talking with a Tech at Crucial, I didn’t have the card inserted deep enough into the slot, plus with the 8GB card the RAM would be 12GB… I guess the BIOS would not handle that? Crucial sent a 4GB card. After a successful card installation I ran WEI and seen an improvement. Prior to RAM upgrade, WEI was 7.5 - 7.5 - 6.5 - 6.5 - 5.9… with upgrade, WEI 7.4 – 7.6 – 6.7 – 6.7 - 6.4
Back to your question. Bear in mind that I’m not a computer geek. The WEI Subscore from 5.9 to 6.4 are for the primary disk performance? I have a 7200 rpm disk and a mSSD. With that, is this saying SSD is improving/helping the 7200 rpm disk? I trust that this has answered your question?

Dennis

Thanks for the feedback.

Looks like the mSSD has bumped the HDD WEI score, was the first WEI score when your computer was new?
Caching takes a little while to get itself set up.

Nice laptop, though I'm not a fan of on board RAM, more manufacturers are going to this setup.
Onboard RAM errors will make the laptop unusable, this removes an easy fix for RAM issues.

Yes the 1st subscore numbers are from my 1st boot and they stayed the same untill I upgraded the RAM. "The caching that takes a while to set up" is that ExpressCache as in the attached snip?

Thank you for the info about the onboard RAM.

Nothing home to write about, but probably for a 5400 RPM 500 GB Seagate Momentus ST9500325AS that came with my laptop, it's not bad. This is with all the crapware removed, default Windows 7 services settings (I haven't changed anything from it, nor follow Black Viper's guide), startup programs from the synaptics touchpad, intel HD graphics drivers, Lenovo battery manager and RealTemp CPU temperature monitoring software, and most drivers are downloaded from the parts manufacturer instead of the computer manufacturer.
