Some great times coming in lately, SSD's are getting pretty popular now and for good reason.

While SSD's make for some good times note that in my previous post a lot of time is saved by using the BIOS EFI drivers rather than the legacy option ROMs. FWIW taskmanager shows about 900MB+ of RAM in use, 50+ services and ~36 processes. Best reported time so far is 12 seconds.

While results for 7 are not bad, for some reason running "Restart" with W8, which shows the desktop quicker than 7 (thanks to ultra fast boot) it takes quite some time afterward for the restart box to be displayed and consequently reports longer restart times. W8 also delays other programs that are placed in the startup folder. Any known reason for this? IOW is W8 not really ready when reaching the DT, in which case are the start up times really not that much different between 7 and 8?

Windows 8 is redefining the terms, you get to a 'usable' desktop faster but, it is still loading services and processes.
It's up to the individual to decide, for me the Win8 desktop is usable and have never had an issue opening anything when the desktop first opens, so it is faster.

It's up to the individual to decide, for me the Win8 desktop is usable and have never had an issue opening anything when the desktop first opens, so it is faster.

Applications can be scheduled to start with Win Logon instead of using the startup folder and push in front, still I imagined it would have had all those services / processes loaded up pretty quick as well. Just seems odd.

Things are still pretty smokin here, I have only 12GB free of my 128, all programs running on startup and it's pretty sweet. I need to move some games to a spinner soon as I am nearly out of space, but I have a brand new Samsung Spinpoint 320gb which is good to go.

I could probably speed up my reboot time from 19 seconds if I updated my RAM and Processor. I'm running a 2nd gen Core i7 and only 1300Mhz RAM. Im sure updating those would shave some seconds off.
