Hi guys, I have a relatively new Asus K53U laptop (It's only about a year old). Every time I close the lid of the laptop it goes to BSOD. It also gives me a Bluescreen sometimes just sitting idle (athough this isn't that frequent). I've tried almost everything; reinstalled windows, updated the BIOS, changed the close lid settings, regularly dust, scanned for viruses/malware/spyware, but nothing seems to work.

I've had enough and am concerned for the health of my laptop. Any info that can be provided would be of huge help.

I've read the BSOD posting rules and 'think' I added everything as needed (minus the error code itself which I can't seem to find).

Thank you in advance!

The file you uploaded had none of the other files associated with it, only dump files. Those files were from Feb-April So, no current information. If you would, if you used method 1 in the http://www.sevenforums.com/bsod-help-support/96879-blue-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html , please use method #2 and select the 'Grab All' then upload it here with your next post.

Please go to Asus web site and download an updated driver for your Graphics card. This is the info we have from the older dump files

Code:
kd> lmvm atikmpag

The real problem part is this

Code:
 !analyze -v

Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed.
Arguments:
Arg1: fffffa8008d14350, Optional pointer to internal TDR recovery context (TDR_RECOVERY_CONTEXT).
Arg2: fffff88003aa1900, The pointer into responsible device driver module (e.g. owner tag).
Arg3: 0000000000000000, Optional error code (NTSTATUS) of the last failed operation.
Arg4: 0000000000000002, Optional internal context dependent data.

That is a Video Time Delay and recovery failure. They are extremely difficult to resolve. basically, if you have switchable graphics, when it switches between on chip and dedicated GPU, it does not switch fast enough and windows interprets that as a video failure and a BSOD occurs. In your case, I'm not sure what is causing a BSOD when closing the laptop. It should sleep/Hibernate then. If you said it was having problems when you opened the lid, that would be more understandable.

Hi Essenbe,

Thank you for your response.

I went to the Asus website and updated the video driver and now it's all fixed! That was the problem all along (I thought I had all my drivers up to date, but guess not). Also, I'm sorry, you're right, I would see the BSOD when opening the laptop lid back up, not when closing.

I'm happy it is all fixed. Thank you for all your help!!
