Solved Recent Duo Monitor Problems

I have been succussufully using a sony laptop, with a second samsung monitor for 2 years with windows 7. I used to be able to run as many programs as I liked moving things back and forth as I needed. Now I have two start menues, and two of everything. One of everything on each screen. I used to be able to watch a movie on one screen and run autocad on the other.

It might as well be one monitor because the screens are identical instead of managing different programs. Help. I feel silly because I've had no problems until now.

Have you change the settings some how? Use the windows key + P to bring up options.
