Hello

Today I decided to install some stuff on my computer as it was out of date..

I installed Java, Flash player and adobe reader X but when I go to add/remove they are not showing up in that section? Has anyone any suggestions or advice as to why this is happening?

Thank you.

Did you reboot?

Hi..Yes I rebooted. Same result though, the programs are not showing up. I am wondering if this issue could be caused by registry issues?

I don't know whats causing the issue but you could use ccleaner to see if they show up there:
Download CCleaner 3.10.1525 - FileHippo.com

Hi

Thanks, I already have ccleaner but would rather just get to the bottom of this issue. I am not concerned about uninstalling anything right now as all programs seem to be working fine.

OS
Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit.
Some programs don't register in the add remove programs list in fact in there programs folder they will have a unwise.exe or uninstall.exe it's rare but it happens. Here is a possible fix for you problem though:

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 322756 How to back up and restore the registry in Windows

To resolve this issue:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  2. Locate the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
  3. Click the folder of the program that has more than 63 characters in the title, right-click DisplayName, and then click Modify.
  4. In the Value data box, type a name with less than 63 characters, and then click OK.
  5. If the program's uninstall key name is longer than 63 characters, shorten it also. For example, the following key name is too long: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\
    1234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234
  6. Quit Registry Editor.

Basically if the uninstall name is too long it won't show up in add remove programs...

Hi seth

Thank you for your help however any of the programs I have installed do not have long names for instance flash player should be in add/remove programs as "adobe flash player 10 plugin" shockwave should be there as "adobe shockwave player 11.6" java should be there as "java(TM)6 update 27" none of these are showing up in add/remove but they function as they should?

I will try some other steps if I can.

Thank you.

Do those programs show up in Ccleaner under tools? If they are not their their is a chance you downloaded them but not get them installed.

Hi Bear

I am positive the software I downloaded is installed. After downloading flash I went to the site to see if I had the latest version, and I did. Did the same with Java and again its there, running and the latest version.

This seems to be a strange problem. Computer is coming back free of malware/virus etc and posted logs on majorgeeks to confirm.

I will keep researching and let you know how it goes, thanks.

I have Windows 7 (64 bit) OS. I have installed programs like: Office 2010, Adobe Reader, AVG 2012, Nero, Photoshop CS3 in drive C. I was trying to uninstall 1 program. And accordingly, I processed like this: Start> Control Panel> Uninstall Program. But it didn't show all those programs. Why this happens? How can I resolve it?

Note: It was working properly some days before ie. it was showing all the programs some days before.

Same here. A few months back noticed that some programs I've once installed, don't show up in Windows' Control Panel "list of programs". Seems like they are from some specific time, since there are older and newer programs that show up just fine. Newly installed programs add up also well.

Windows uninstaller registry is also missing these certain programs.

My first, and only so far, guess is that on my case this has something to do with the certain buggy Win7 update that came last fall.
