Hello folks, my Best Beloved is migrating to W7 from XP and needs to convert his Outlook Express .dbx files to .pst so he can use Outlook ( he could just stick with Live Mail, but we prefer Outlook desktop client). We have looked for a decent converter utility and have found a couple, and he is willing to pay a sensible amount, even though he is only likely to use it once, but we would like your opinion on which is the best to go for. Thanks in advance.

As I recall one can use Outlook's Import function to bring in the Outlook Express messages, I locate and Copy the Outlook Express data files using Search and including hidden files for *.dbx. I copy them to a USB Thumb/Flash drive and in Outlook point to that drive and the files. When I find the .dbx files I copy the Outlook Express Folder they are in.

The Windows Address Book on WinXP stores as .wab format but can also use WAB to Export as .csv format for use with other E-Mail Clients and as a Spreadsheet file.

Berton, thank you for that. We have managed it now. I did not think Outlook could import .dbx extensions, hence the need for a conversion tool - but if we ever have to do it again, we will try your suggestion. Thank you :)
