Reconnect old HDD for a file or two

Recently removed HDD for SSD

There is a file I need to locate on the old HDD

Is it just a matter of unplugged the 2 x SSD and connect this HDD & once file retrieved
Just connect back up 2 x SSD ?

Windows 7 operating system is still on HDD

It should be that simple but if you cloned it you may get a disk signature collision If you done a reinstall you will have no rights on the old hd so you will need to take ownership of folders to get to the file

There is a really Neat device, called a Docking Station, that plugs into a USB port.
Just drop your old HD into the Docking Station and it's easily accessed by Windows.

A good friend bought me one. It works great for those who cannot or will not just connect their spare HD to their motherboard with extension Data and Pwr cables. Which actually, is the way I prefer. It's much faster.
I also use that technique for formatting a new drive, cleaning a drive, or doing drive to drive clones.


This pic, is just one example, of connecting a Hard Drive, externally, using extended SATA Data and Pwr cables. Drives not bolted into a case, can get pretty hot, thus the 5" cooling fan to keep things cool.
It may seem like a real lashup, but hey, it works great.
