Redirect sound output port to sound input port

Hi!

I broke my Headphones port so I cannot use it anymore. But I'm a musician and need it crucially. So I thought to use one of other two ports (FOR HEADPHONE SOUND OUTPUT SIGNAL) I have left: one for Line in and one for Mic in.

My sound card is High Definition Audio (at least I see this in System->Devices).

Can I do this with any type of program or something else? How can I redirect headphone output signal onto Mic in or Line in ports? Thanks to all people who might help!

P.S. saw a lot of people looking for how to record their output using mic in. My case is different, I just want to use one of other two ports like sound outputs instead of my broken headphone port.

Surprised that you can get much of anything done with the default Windows audio driver, that provides about just enough functionality to to get sound. That is why it is show as a "high definition audio device". You need to install the proper driver for it to begin with and then there might be the possibility of jack assignment. Without it though it won't happen.

And no we can't tell you what you need for a sound driver as your specs don't list what your motherboard is, which is needed to tell you which driver assuming you are using onboard sound.

I have a standart Extensa 5230 laptop, so it isn't difficult to find out what audio device I have. It's Realtek High Definition Audio R2.3. But, there was no necessary to do this because since I installed Windows 7 Professional, it recognized all my drivers so the devices work well for standart tasks, such as reproducing music and videos with WMP and so on. But for my music composing needs I use WASAPI or ASIO4ALL driver, which is compatible with my audiocard. So now I have finished to download the Realtek driver from Acer webpage and I'm going to install it. I doubt that I could change ports in standart application, because when I had Vista I had this application and there is nothing for changing ports. That's why I went here on this website for asking, is there something to change the ports manually?
