Solved Reg Cleaner?

Is it safe to run CCleaner reg cleaner option, though my lap is running fine but it displays alot of reg issues on scan?

I would not use the registry cleaner part of CCleaner. The registry really does not need cleaning. Those so called issues rarely amount to anything and "cleaning" the registry can potentially create problems.

I run mine daily without issues. CCleaner is very mild with reg cleaning. I do NOT recommend any 3rd party cleaners though, such as Registry Mechanic.

I use c cleaner ounce in a while it works fine for me never had any problems with it...
The best way to use it is in safe mode...

As with any system cleaning product make a system image backup before first use or at least a system restore point and also use Ccleaner's reg backup. Then if you run the cleaner and experience subsequent problems you can at least restore things to how they were.

If you experience no problems you can try running it again with additional cleanup options. If you then experience problems you would need to figure out what setting caused them and avoid using that setting.

As for your other thread on BleachBit - the same logic applies.

The winapp2.ini file used by Ccleaner and Bleachbit is not the same. On my machine additional cleaners have been imported. It's possible to use Ccleaner's winapp2.ini file in BleachBit but then you might as well stick to Ccleaner!



In the screenshot it shows all winapp2 files on my machine. The smallest one is the trimmed version that's had the cleaners that i don't need removed from it! That enables faster loading and operation.

It's certainly possible to cause problems by running BleachBit with all checkboxes selected. It probably wouldn't brick your machine but it would be hard to undo some of the changes. With both programs you will often see a warning displayed if you select one of the more advanced options. Don't use those options unless you understand what they do.

When using Ccleaner choose the option to save and it will save the things removed and you can restore them if need be. I keep the saved clean ups about a week or so and then remove them.

I don't use laptops or sleep/hibernation on any of my system.
So I would not be the best member to give guidance on such matters.

My power plan is simple.

If the computer is on I'm using it.
When I'm not using it I turn it off.
It only takes a few seconds to boot so I really don't see a need for Sleep/Hibernation.

Have a question that might sound silly to most of you experts.

Just finished restoring the last created image, updating all apps, updates, softwares, ran CCleaner reg scan that showed a lot of invalid reg entries. Silverlight , Invalid X etc.

With out making a back up, ran fix issues.

The laptop is running fine, my question is should I have made a back up of the invalid reg entries or/and ran fix issues in safe mode or it doesn't matter?

OR should I again restore the full image back up and go through the ordeal of updating?

Most here will say you should have done one of two things:

Don't use the registry cleaner.

If you do use it, accept CCleaner's offer to backup the registry entries before you make changes.

You did neither.

Considering where you are now, I'd just keep on using the system as is. In the future, make one of the two above choices. I wouldn't bother with restoring your image again unless you develop significant problems. Don't speculate on whether that will happen.

Restoring a back up is no big deal but updating the OS etc is a pain.

I get those Silverlight warnings and I just remove them and have had no problems.
ACCEPTING Ccleaner backup is always a good option.
