Hi there, I recently managed to get a cryptowall/cryptolocker virus. I wiped everything, formatted c: and reinstalled windows 7 home premium. Getting seemingly random BSOD 1-4 times daily. Reinstalled OS again, same problem.

I've had the PC for nearly 3 years now. Prior to the reinstalls there was never 1 BSOD and the machine would stay up and stable for literally weeks on end without a restart or problem. Only difference I can think of is that I cannot locate the original MB cd so I'm using MB drivers/software downloaded from ASUS specific to my MB model.

Counterfeit installations such as yours contains heavily modified code that causes the installation to behave it unexpected ways. Analysing BSOD's and determining their causes on these sorts of installations is very unreliable.

My recommendation is to start with a clean slate, and install a genuine version of Windows. This will minimise the problems you are experiencing, and make subsequent diagnosis of BSOD's far more reliable.

Cheers for that. However, zero BSODs for years before w/ same OS install. Got to be something other than that.
