Remembering desktop icon locations - is there an application\method?

Hi,

Using desktop re-directs to a server and on occasion desktop icons revert to the left of the screen rather than as organised by the user (I know its little things...)

Ive juggled with turning off auto arrange etc but it doesn't seem to fix the problem. I was wondering if anyone is aware of a free solution which will remember the icon location if they decide to go astray?

Icons also get jiggled when you go to Safe Mode. I use a utility called DesktopRestore.
