Remote Control

I would like to install a Remote Control system so that I can cut out journeys to some of my club members to solve small problems on their computers and take control of their PC's from mine. As it is a comminity project we have no funds so it would need to be Open Source software. Don't want to go on a huge learning curve to achieve this. Am I asking the impossible or has anyone a suggestion please?
I did look at Tight VNC but that looks like taking a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

+1 I was only using team viewer last night for the second time and it is a very useful piece of kit.

Thanks both, will give it a try tomorrow. Has the potential to save me a lot of time. I often do a round trip of 30 to 40 miles just to spend 10 minutes on someones computer. All don eon a voluntary basis as a comunity project but when i stop with them for a cup of coffe and a chat there's a morning gone for just 10 minutes work.Thanks again, will post back later with findings!

HAve had a quick look at the prog having downloaded and installed.
It seems I must create "Partners" to connect to. Is this right as what I need to be able to do is to connect to anyone of my members who contacts me by perhaps just emailing or instant messaging a piece of software to enable connect. Am I asking too much of a freebie?

Please ignor last post. Have just seen the light. Must be getting old. See what you mean, very good piece of kit will suit me perfectly. Will now smooth the edges a bit and start using it. Thanks and rep to you both!

the trouble with this type of software is that you have to go through TEAMVIEWERS own servers.

The old FREE Neetmeeting that worked in XP was 100% ideal but of course no longer works in W7.

I think there's a few threads on the lack of a decent replacement -- I doubt also if large businesses will want this type of software to be totally outside their own control too.

This might be ok for the odd individual user fixing one or 2 remote comuters but this IMO isn't a realistic business solution for remote support.

Used the software this morning to great effect. No probs at all. Saved me a couple of hours plus a 10 mile round trip. Just one thing, I get the message once the session is finished that the Timeviewer is still running and I cant see where to turn it off! I know I can go to Task Manager then processes and stop it there but is there an easier way?

If you installed it as a service, it will still be running until terminated....

(My own Win7 installation has it installed, but, not as a service, so, when stopped, it is completely stopped.)
