I have a machine setup to autologin using a local username. It's the only username on the machine other than the system users. (System, Network, Local) however when I connect to that machine using remote desktop it always leaves the option of "other user" and its causing some trouble with some of my software. Anyone know how to get rid of this? I've racked my brain.

-The remote computer is running Windows 7 x64, my computer is Windows XP.

How is it causing trouble exactly?

Because when I connect to it, even if I login using the correct username, it opens up a different session of Windows I guess...I really don't know what's going on but here's the problem:

A piece of software (A DVR program for our security cameras actually) will only run with one user, if we try to login with a different user it gives us PCI Input errors from more than one user trying to access the PCI capture card. So when we login using Remote Desktop, even if we use the same user that is logged in and working properly, it kills the program.

So, when you log into the machine as the currently logged on user, the DVR program dies? So, where does this "other user" issue come into play? I'm not following how Remote Desktop providing the ability to log on as another user is causing you a problem here.

5 years later and same problem on Windows 10.

When a user, say admin is logged in at the console, and you remote desktop in as admin, logging in it shows "Other User" instead of "admin" - but when you're logged in, you find yourself logged into a brand new session with nothing open. When you log in from the console, again. Any open sessions simply gets logged out before the new login... most irritating.

I thought it might have to do with the fact that I had Automatic Login set, but no.

Will keep digging... as this thread is the closest thing that comes up when you Google for "Other user".
