Is there a way for me to remove only my profile picture (but not the frame for the profile picture) from the logon screen. I've tried editting the authui.dll file but am unsure what to change. I've tried using xxxdannyxxx's authui.dll file as well but it removes both the frame and the picture.

Help would be appreciated, thanks.

Hello IcedEclipse,

If you like, you could set Windows to require users to enter both their username and password on the log on screen. This will hide all users and account pictures on the log on screen.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/61650-log-user-name-password.html

Hope this helps, :)
Shawn

This is pretty good!
I'm still looking for a slightly more ideal solution (I would like my username to be pre-displayed and I don't want to have to enter it), but this is good enough if nothing better comes along.

Thanks again.

You can change just about everything with the Logon Workshop program

Logon Workshop by Kizza1994 on DeviantArt

Suggest you make full image backups before playing, just in case

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/663-backup-complete-computer-create-image-backup.html

It's possible to make it impossible to login if you really mess up ;)

Here is a manual method

windows 7 - How to remove the User picture from Login and Lock screen? - Super User

A Guy

Hey thanks for the reply, the manual edit does work but removes both the frame and the profile picture. Is there something I can change to only remove the picture and keep the frame?

Thanks again.

Ironically most wanted to remove the frame, and only managed to remove the user picture. I seem to remember some having luck using a transparent image as their user picture? Also, the default user picture "place holders" are stored in

%PROGRAMDATA%\Microsoft\User Account Pictures

You might try renaming the user.bmp (to something like user.bmp.old, or .bak) and see if that doesn't give you an empty frame. This would of course affect your start menu user picture too.

Sadly it doesn't seem to work (although I might be doing something wrong). I'm setting my picture to one of the user account pictures, taking ownership, making it a .bak file, then restarting my computer. The profile picture is still there though :/

Okay I got it fixed by adding height="0" to <ZoomableElement id="atom(Picture)" etc etc> instead of PictureContainer. Seems to have hidden the profile picture.

Thanks to everyone for all of the help.
