Here's one solution that i have developed for this specific problem.
Place the .exe wherever you want, then run it once to set it as an autostart item for Windows.
The user picture will vanish from existence.

It will only re-appear if you change the Theme or if you reposition the taskbar around your desktop, but then again you can manually run the .exe once more.

Works for Windows Vista, Windows 7.

Thank you. Too bad it doesn't play nice with vertical task bars. Since this exe doesn't remove the margin where the user picture used to be and in vertical view the entire user picture is 'inside' the right pane of the start menu, you get a large amount of blank space in the right pane. Oh well.

This .exe worked fine, however I am having problems making it autorun.

It works after being clicked but does not run upon startup.

I put it in

User/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/Windows/Start Menu/Startup

Which worked, but it still opened a dialoge box and said "your user picture has been removed from the start menu" (or something along those lines).

Can you help me configure it to run as intended?

(as an autorun program that operates in the background so I can just forget about it)

Thanks for creating this useful program.
