Remove Welcome & Shut Down screens 7 Home Premium

I've been customizing my boot loader, icons, sounds etc, but when I boot up or shut down/restart I get the welcome screen and the shutting down screen. It takes away from my customizations. I have tried looking for local policies (which I found out home doesn't list) and I edited the value to 1 in the registry for donotdisplaylastusername. None of that has worked.

As an alternate option, if I could get a tut on how to edit both of these screens, I would customize them too if removal is not possible.

As far as i know i dont think thats possible, and it wouldn't be safe to go edit the registry.

I don't think it's possible to remove it; I tried once and never could find out. It's possible and really easy to customize the screen though--just download the free LogonStudio for StarDock:LogonStudio - Apply and Package New Logon Screens

I agree with you, however editing the registry to remove the shutdown screen would cause more problems than good.

Theres no harm in trying,

I mean the shutdown screen is important, its when your PC closes connections. Safely shuts down processes. By removing this you might aswell just hold your finger on the power button

Well the shutdown would still happen, you would never know what the computer is doing while shutting down for instance you may have not known there was a few updates and you would think it is taking a long time and force it to shutdown during updates which can corrupt Windows.

Welcome to Seven Forums oxidious. Have you considered just changing the backgroung to match your desktop wallpaper? The logon and shutdown will then have the same appearance as your theme

Thanks guys, I haven't found a way to do it myself yet. Removing the welcome and shutdown screens is clearly not a good idea. So yes, if I could customize it so it's my own custom background picture and the "welcome" and "shutting down" fonts are custom, that would be awesome. Thanks "A Guy" I'll check this out!

Actually I just looked at this and this isn't what I'm looking for. You know when windows says "Welcome" right before the desktop loads? Thats what I'm looking to customize.

That changes the background on both. As soon as Windows starts to load until it finishes shutting down I see the same background. Try it, you can always change it back. A Guy

It takes a little figuring out, but you should be able to get it. The direct download link on that page is broken though; in the comments below it there's a working one.
