Removing Users from login screen (without being disabled)

Hello all!

I'm in a bit of a dilemma, and I can't necessarily work around this. On most of my systems, I have two users. One of them is the user, and the other is an administrative account that I never login to unless I absolutely have to. I've also done the same on some PC's I've worked on for friends, etc. So yes, each UAC prompt asks me for a password of my administrator account. And that doesn't bother me .

Now, here's the thing where I'm going. I want to be able to start up a system and not see the administrative account. At all. Meaning, I'm logging into my user. But, I don't want to login automatically. I'm trying to avoid that heavily as I got others in my household who absolutely love to use my computers.

Basically, I want to see the welcome screen and just see my username so I can login, and have a 'switch users' option. That would be useful! I've already checked through the policy editors to see what I can do, but perhaps I'm not seeing the correct options?

Any ideas?

I would create a backup admin account for testing purposes just in case

I've already tried that. Hiding the user from the login screen actually "disables" it, because the UAC prompts do not show up with that username.

You cannot hide a user account and still allow it to function in the way you want.

Hello ODBOD,

I suppose that you could set Windows to require that you type in both a username and password at logon as in the tutorial below. This way none of the user accounts will displayed at logon.
