Well I still haven't figured it out yet, but apparent i'm not alone...

How do you rename the default "Network" connection name in Windows 7?? In vista, you could click customize in network and sharing center to rename the network and change the icon, etc. Windows 7 has no such option.... Also, Every time I restart my computer, I automatically get connected to an "unidentified network" public network type, and it says "mixed network". I can't connect to the internet at all when it does that. I have to disable my adapter and re-enable it to correct the problem. Any thoughts ?? It's quite frustrating because it happens on every boot.

Ok, that's how it is now.

How does that look when the problem occurs after boot?

Is it possible that after boot the wireless is trying to connect too?
Hence mixed mode?

Make a screenshot when the problem is at hand.

rename network connections..

Wow thanks. I didn't realize it was that easy. Okay, now that that's fixed. The other thing is still there. When I reboot.. everytime.. it connects me to a "unidentified network" some how.. and i can't do anything when its connected to both networks. no internet at all... looks like this:

i couldn't get the screenshot from my pc, cuz it's not doing that right now.. but on every reboot.. but here's a screenshot i found on google..

We need a screenshot from your computer, so you have to reboot and make the screenshot.

I suspect your situation will be almost the same as this screenshot.
I think you will see both wired and wireless are connected.

If that's the case, just disable your wireless card in Networkcenter.

Your imageshack link doesn't work.

I have to ask you to reboot again and don't do your standard routine of disable/enable, but click on the "local area connection" of the unidentified network.

You have to find out what that is.

Make a few screenshots of what you see after you clicked it.

unknown network..

This was the only screenshot I could get... If I click on the Unidentified Public Network, I only get the screen that lets me change it's name and icon. That's not really of any use.. The other network, Rogers, is my ISP. That one is normal but it only works when I disable and re-enable my ethernet adapter, and only works when its the *only* network in the list.

Ok,

Can you now do the same screenshots, but with the network working ok, after your disable/enable routine?

Ok, I see the problem.

I have to go eat now, I'm sorry, but I will be back in about 45 minutes.
If you have the patience and time, I'll see you then.
I think I can definitely solve your problem.

(Your Gateway, DNS and DCHP all have different IP's.
Very strange setup.)
