Renaming Files/Folders not working/acting right!

When I click on a file name that is already selected it will auto select the entire root file name without extension.... NORMALLY anyway...but not for me now all of a sudden! F2 doesn't do anything either...hmmm maybe then, right click and select "Rename"..Nope, nada

All 3 choices don't seem to do anything....nothing happens All I'm trying to do is rename several spreadsheets and pdf files to have dates as beginning of file name to keep them together better!

ANY IDEAS...​
 I've tried trouble shooters and hopelessly looked around google spending WAY more time reading a bunch but getting nowhere! WHY I didn't just come here first.. :doh: is beyond me! deserve a head tap..I know

Open Explorer, view details. You will have a Name, a Date, type, size ...columns. Right click on a no name column on the left and select attributes.

Does this problem persist in only one user account?

Or, can you re-create your "re-naming files" problem in a different user account?
